- Time to welcome the Navy from one of our European allies as this Spanish Frigate, the Alvaro De Bazan pays a visit to Portsmouth. The ship is named after Admiral Alvaro De Bazan and is the first of a class of 5, an order for a 6th was cancelled.

Admiral Don Álvaro de Bazán was intended to be the commander of the Armada, for the famous invasion of Britain. He died short time before the date, so the command fell into the hands of the Duque de Medina Sidonia, the commander for the land operations, he was Grande de España, and the highest nobility in Castilla, so he was the highest rank after the king. He didn't want to command the fleet, so he sent message to King Philip II, in Madrid, who was mislead by his secretary, who later was known as a traitor. Well, I recommend you to watch BBC's documentary on the Spanish Armada.

She is part of the USS Gerald Ford carrier strike group. I'm Spanish but live in London and love going down to Portsmouth every once in a while and have a paint or two at any of the pubs at the entrance of the harbour while seeing the passing ships.
Note two interesting things. At 5:34 you can see the Type 45 destroyers radar test site in the BG hills. Also in that frame is interesting to see USS Thomas Hudner also hoisting the Spanish flag. It's great to see how we are all friends and allies.

I'm also Spanish and have studied (with a grant) lived and worked in London over thirty five years of my life. Having been granted full residencial status again, (I.L.T.R.) and have been invited by the Home Office at the Lunar House in Croydon to become a fully fetch British citizen. And God only knows how much around the idea I'm coming,

The "destroyer" class was named after a S.XIX Spanish warship named "Destructor" (1887). This ship was built by James & George Thompson in Clydebank, Scotland under specifications of the Spanish Navy. Destroyers are highly efficient, highly powered all-purpose surface combatants. So what is the mess with the frigates? If a destroyer can solve the mess it is a better option, for its operating costs are smaller. Less manning and less fuel consumption. So if someone tries to diminish the quality of this vessel due to its tonnage, let me point out, that it is a powerful cost effective state-of-one-art one. Cheers!

Please check on your favourite consulting media, who those two Great Spanish sailors did, you will admire their accomplishements.
Very good and capable ship, with its AEGES combact system is a mini Harley Burke. But i don't understand whether it's a large frigate or a small destroyer. It doesn't really matter anyway, in either case it's a ship that makes Spain pround. Viva la Spagna e viva l'Italia.

In Spain she is called a "Frigate" for political reasons, when in fact she is a Destroyer or light Destroyer, sligthy lighter than the Aegis American Destroyers. Her twin sisters sold to Australia by Navantia Spain are trully called Howart Class Destroyers but in Spain the word Destructor (Destroyer) it is no politically correct... Magnificient ships, best in her class.

Esta fragata las tiene Australia con otra denominación pero no es que sea buena esque es la mejor la blas de Lezo la mejor del mundo las f100 el barco más maravilloso jamás construido sólo superado por las nuevas F110 unas joyas navales.
Las australianas, o las noruegas, no son exáctamente como nuestras F-100. Tienen múltiples diferencias, ya que han seleccionado diferentes proveedores para las tecnologías del buque, excepto por las AEGIS
La Reina de Inglaterra, ahora su hijo, pueden decir: tenemos una flota Made in Spain, la RAN.

Lo apropiado hubiera sido mandar la Blas de Lezo.

Si no estoy equivocado ya la enviamos hace algunos años con motivo de un evento organizado por la corona británica. Como por esas tierras se prohibió hablar de la derrota en Cartagena (Colombia) sólo unos pocos ilustrados tomaron la debida nota.
@@felipediaz3711 no lo estás. El motivo fue la conmemoración / celebración de la suerte que el destino le tuvo guardado a la Gran Armada española.
La victoria de Blas de Lezo por otra parte fue concebida ejecutada manufacturada no por designios incontrolables si no, por la astucia, la intrepidez, el heroísmo y el compromiso de don Blas de Lezo. El tamaño de la armada británica era descomunal más de dos veces la de la española, pequeño detalle que escapa al escrutinio y "¿¿rigor??" de los historiadores ingleses.
Es que en aquellos tiempos de Blas de Lezo, las cosas estaban muy calentitas con Inglaterra, todo el día dando por el saco con sus barcos piratas. Actualmente la cosa va mejor, con los intercambios de población, Españoles en Uk e Ingleses en España.

Para que un Buque o Navio si hay buena Tripulación y buenos Oficiales y Suboficiales irá todo Bien.Y mandaría un par de Fragatas a La Zona de Melilla y Ceuta para que no vengan más Violentos.Mas que nada . Pará que ayuden a las otras Fuerzas Armadas Guardia civil Policía Nacional que son Iguales.
La F 100 estan a mitad de su vida util. Ahora van a entrar en una gran remodelación mientran entran en sevicio las F 110 y se dan de baja las F-80. Las F 100 son mas antisubmarinas, estas son mas antiaereas. Por cierto los tres destructores Hobart de la armada australiana son F-100 adaptadas a lo que pidió el armirantazgo australiano.

Esas son las F80 que están apunto de retirar por las F110 en construcción, y además de ser antisubmarinas, más antiguas y obsoletas las derivadas de las Oliver Hazard Perry son más pequeñas 4000 toneladas de desplazamiento por 6000 de estas F100 que son diseño propio de Navantia.

En los barcos estadounidenses su bandera es como una cancha d balonmano.
Una bandera muy grande por lo que dices, solo que cuando patrulla con la 6ª flota una fragata española F-100, normalmente viaja en ella el jefe de la flota y tiene su centro de mando en ella. ¿porque será?.
