Hi Andy. Just want to ask the reason why a Yamaha Viking 6 shows Battery error on the electronic panel. I already replaced the starter, battery but still have issue on hard starting.
Battery error code is flagged if battery voltage is too low or too high. You may have more than one fault here. Check the charging rate - should be between 13.5 & 14.5v at fast idle, no higher. If its below this then you likely have a charging issue so more investigation required Now, the poor starting, is it a slow crank or does the engine spin over at usual speed but just won't fire? More info needed Cheers Andy
Ah okay. Likely a point of high resistance in the starter circuit. Likely place is where the main earth lead between battery negative & engine casing - check connection at engine end - fron memory it connects onto one of the starter motor bolts - these can work loose & corrode over time. Let me know how you get on Cheers Andy
@@AndyMechanic cables are properly attached and nothing loose. Tried my golf cart battery but still the same issue. In fact, the mechanic recently refaced the engine head. Since then, the engine had a hard starting issue…
+BigPig sur HardFight no, provided the torque setting for that model of Yamaha is equal to or more than 20Nm. You need to always check the workshop manual. If you apply too high a torque it can damage the spark plug threads in the cylinder head. The torque setting for the spark plug is specific to each make and model of motorcycle so you must check the specs. Hope this is of help.
Thank you for posting these very helpful videos.
Wow $9. Glad to see I'm not the only one that uses a toque wrench. Cheers
Torquing spark plugs takes a few extra seconds, and saves a load of headaches! To quote Jonathan Ross, "Torque is cheap." ;D
what is the socket size? Would have been helpful...
What is the bolt above that spark plug for ?
Oil feed & pressure to cylinder head measurement port.

@@AndyMechanic slow crank even the battery installed was new. Anyway, I’ll check if I can buy a battery tester and I’ll let you know.

Ah...okay, the auto decompression system may not be working correctly - so a compression test to check...
Last summer I change my spark plug on my yamaha bws 2015 and i set my torque wrench to 20nm does it can dammage something ?
