I noticed this clip edited out key messages by Jiang. Then I looked up the channel who uploaded this clip, no surprise... Must have learned from or trained by BBC.

It is twenty-two years since this meeting. Please support efforts of U.S. House of Representatives member Scott Perry in calling for a U.S. bill demanding that the "Republic of China" withdraw from the country of Tibet. It is not too late.

Feelings have nothing to do with it. China is a country, not a person you can't hurt a country's feelings. I suppose Chinese people have love for Tibet then and wanted to eat it?

@@alicehallam7949 I don't know why you aren't pissed off by the notion of breaking up your country, but I reckon most Americans would want the United States of America to stay United, just as Chinese wants China to remain whole.
Tibet has been a part of China since the Qing dynasty, and it is in Chinese people's historic memory that Tibet is part of China. Qing dynasty China controlled Tibet via Dalai Lamas (and of their appointment) and the PRC brought Tibet back to China's fold via the PLA.
I know it seems strange that Chinese people believe that PRC "inherits" the lands of the Qing dynasty but this sense of historic continuity is imprinted very strongly in the Chinese mind. In many parts it is due to Chinese people viewing all the preceding dynasties and PRC as an extension of the Chinese civilization. After all, Chinese civilization is the oldest living continuous civilization on Earth.
And I disagree with your saying "feelings have nothing to do with this". Feelings have A LOT to do with this. The feeling of Shame is often associated with Chinese territorial integrity, especially in the past century where Western powers carved up China into their own "Spheres of Influence". Not mentioning Japan, long viewed by China as her tributary state, annexing Taiwan and Manchuria.

You are conflating concept of Chinese person with concept of Chinese government. Chinese person has feelings as individual, Chinese government does not.
