  • This VW Golf VI had some pretty bad headlights , they were extremely hazed and the owner barely see the road while driving at night . The restore is done with different abrasives ,from 600 grit ,going all the way up to 3000 grit . After the sanding , I used the polymerization method and to prevent future haziness ,I added a PPF over them ,so they are 100% protected.

Let me give you a few tips on this because I've done a LOT of headlights and started trying new tools and methods every time. First thing, instead of Smirdex try using Norton or even better Sia sandpapers, better logevity and more uniform grain on those, just a lot better quality. Second use smaller sanding block, the thing you are using is good for flat panels but not for curvy and intricate headlights with corners. Instead of hand sanding 2000 and 3000 try to find 3 inch sanding discs with foam backing, something like abralon etc. And the last thing is polishing out after sanding gives you much better results than polymerization although it's less forgiving on sanding, for perfect result you will need to sand all scratches from previous grit and then to go for next. I know polymerization is the new popular thing to do but trust me in person it's nowhere close to polishing for perfect result. Again, you are doing great job man keep it up just telling what I learned from experience.

Thank you so much 🙏🏼 ill try to switch to 3M sandpaper, because we dont have Norton or Sia in my country . And what ive seen during the time headlights just takes practice ... event with all the tools and stuffs , its more what suits you better , i tried polishing them but doesnt work that good as polymerization (for me atleast) . Also thats why im sanding in an X patern to make sure all the previous scratches are gone . But i still have to learn and find my own style of doing headlights so far ,handsanding and polymerization with a ppf at the end makes them like new and no scratches visible 🙏🏼 , but im looking forward to improve !

@@AndronicDetailing Yes, 3M would also work great, they even have sandpaper with velcro backing so you can buy sanding blocks with velcro and stick them together for better grip. I agree that it's learning process and that everyone have their own style. Haven't tried doing PPF on headlights yet, what brand do you use?

At first i used Stek , but now switched to hexis bodyfence . 🤗 i was thinking to do the sanding all by 3M blue foam sandpapers 3' ones , but i gets way to expencive 😅 and im afraid ill get the pig taills marks at the end with using the DA .
