How to install Bully side steps on 1973-86 Chevy K20 4x4 squarebody

- My project 1977 Chevy K20 4x4 needed some side steps since my 6 inch rough country lift and 37inch tires made the truck a bit high to get into easily. Here I show you how to install these side steps. You can install them anywhere you like, I picked a location towards front of the door for me to get up there better

Love the truck, and you're the first guy that I've seen that mounted the steps where they should go, towards the front to clear the front of the seat climbing in.

I've been through it tryi g to get my 1990 K1500 4x4 back to good.worki g co edition and I'm I stalling a set.of.these.bullies on mine rn and I just.bought them off marketplace.flr.$40. They gave me.3......???..... Stepsister 5.7! Love this beast! I'm just tired of my ass hitting the side.of.the.driver seat everytime I get it! LOL. NICE VIDEO!!

Note - If you're looking for info on these pos Bully brand steps like I was when I found this video, The bottom hole is not pre-drilled into the Bully steps. You have to drill them out yourself. The steps are well made, but the instructions and hardware sucks. The "mounting bracket" is useless.
Also, I'd recommend using a well nut or toggle on the top bolt because a sheet metal screw (which the directions say to use but one is not provided in the kit from the idiots at Bully) will eventually work it's way out. It looks like these were installed a little too forward imo.
**Before you install your Bully steps, sit in the truck, and spin your body as if you were exiting the truck...then place your foot on the rocker. If you're on passenger side place the step where your left foot meets the rocker, and on driver side place it where your right foot hits the rocker. Makes getting down from a lifted truck a lot easier as is using a ladder. The same thing while getting in.
Do you have a brand you would recommend over the bully ones?
@@lordem3324 no. They work, but you have to be able to improvise and adapt. Just like using the hardware I mentioned above.
Those Chevy & GMC square body models were built from 1973 - 1991 except the plain cab pickups "half ton & three quarter ton models only" were finished in 1987, & the one ton plain cab pickups & medium duty series models were finished in 1989.
Couldn't help but notice your shadow has a crutch. Is that the reason for the steps. If so i guess i better get some...
It seems too much to the front . Mount it in the centre so easy to step on it to get out and in
For me it works, can practically put the steps any where you like
Looks like you mounted the hoops about 4 inches too forward. You'll bump your head getting in and out. You must like to swing. 🙂👍
