    Design steampunk pixel airships out of functional modules and conquer the skies!
    In the game, ships are viewed side-on, and their modules are operated by individual crew members. During combat, players give high-level commands to a small fleet, positioning their ships, ramming and boarding others. Ships and terrain are fully destructible: they can catch fire, explode, break apart, and fall. Players can also compete against one another in Internet and LAN matches.
    The ships are highly detailed, teeming with sailors moving around at their individual tasks, like an ant farm or a cut-away drawing. The player's choices in ship layout are crucial, and an important part of the game is exploring the design space of different airships and their matching tactics.

    for me it feels like you should be able to stack the launchers so that when you lose a plane it would lift up the secound/thierd plane to take the first planes space.
    as of right now it works even worse then a WW1 dreadnought converted to a early WW2 aircraft carrier. that plane was alwasys on the deck if there was 10 aircraft on the deck that was all there was as there was no lift or anything to lower/raise them up there.

    I think the carriers are better as a light carrier. A fleet of them could probably kill monster enemies

    I think a repair bay would really improve the results here, since it would slow down the speed at which the landing pads are destroyed.

    You should try out the rocket planes, I find they tend to be better than the torpedo bombers against a lot of targets.

    Given the "Firepower" of Carrier is its planes, the real trick if Carriers is COST vs DURABILITY. But this is indeed the best way to do a Carrier. Edit: naturally you would want the aircraft controller and plane maintence bay if you can afford them. If nothing else the aircraft controller so you can keep the planes on the carrier if the enemy has alot of Anti Air.

    The reason you lost 3 crew at 7:31 is because planes count as crew. Also, great video!

    Can i just point out alot of these tests are VS ships with ZERO AA weapons. Starting from tier 0 to tier 5 you have: Muskets, Rifles, Grapeshot Cannons, Deck Guns, Machine guns, Flak Guns. (also the MG sponson that got added at some point). If the Enemy has NO Anti Air of course your going to DESTROY THEM with Planes. (even Fighters can kill an airship with enough passes)
    The problem with Carriers comes when the enemy DOES have AA weapons or enemy planes. Even a handful of Muskets and Rifles will kill planes quite easily. Thankfully Rocket Planes and Torpedo Bombers exist which can attack from decent distance to give them a fighting chance.

    The only way i have been able to get carriers to work effectively is by building insane behemoths that take up half the map. And at that point if you are spending that much on a craft you can pretty much do whatever the hell you want i guess. very fun though!

      The problem with Carriers is the planes add alot to Maintenance costs and build costs. And you get a gunless ship with VERY FRAGILE PLANES! Seriously, a handful of Muskets or Rifles can down planes so easily its like "why even bother?" While their are upgrades that give planes more hp or more speed and less cost, they don't really help.
      Planes are meant to be used in swarms, but its hard to pull that off. Especially given the planes launch ONE at a time and thus are staggered on approach. Fighter battles are a RNG war of attrition (these planes have NO survival instincts, if they do they are not high enough), while attack planes have to worry about a handful of AA weapons blowing them out of the sky.

    the best strategy for carriers seems to be minimum crew ship, three to five planes, extremely high service ceiling (~300m).
    i much prefer bombers to the torpedo planes, the torpedoes are pretty underwhelming in my opinion.
    my carriers are essentially just a medium sized blimp with bomber decks above, or biplane hooks below, with an extremely minimal structure, using minimum crew to drive down maintenance costs.
    sometimes i add a single bomb bay and/or gatling gun. this setup will beat nearly all monsters, although anything tentacle-y will hard counter planes, bombs or gatlings can deal with those within reason.

    torps just don’t hit accurately enough, their blast radius:hit radius ratio is waaaay too low
