- Here's a complete broadcast of a (relatively early) edition of Late Night with David Letterman as aired on WMAQ Channel 5, where he began to catch the proverbial "lightning in a bottle." He is backed, as always, by Paul Shaffer, and the guests are actor/director Robert Duvall, actor/gypsy Steve Tsiginoff, and Playboy Playmate of the Year Marianne Gravatte.

Robert Duvall seems such a generous and humble dude. Marrianne Gravatte is a stunner. Great episode, great commercials, Dave’s hair in rare form. Movie Trailer for The Hunger around 30min. mark. This is the period Dave made a lifelong fan out of me.
You can tell Marianne is on the shy side. But did well enough to pose for Playboy and did very well for herself.
Thanks for sharing this and plugging Don Giller. You're both doing extremely important (and entertaining) work preserving all this video.
He is a gem. I asked his permission before I posted this, just out of respect. :-)
Love the commercials!
Man the commercials are so nostalgic.
Who else skipped right to the Marianne Gravatte part?
That was me ....
@@billhall7221 I had her original cover Playboy magazine
@@surfshack2 that's awesome man. She was the cover girl on Ratt , Invasion of your privacy album .
Best album cover of all time !!!!
@@surfshack2 She had the best bush in the history of the magazine, the best.
@@dukefan37923 Back when bush was everything.
Thank you for posting this!
Thanks for this!!! I could watch all of letterman’s episode’s over and over.
She is stunning just simply perfection!
Check her out in "Lay it Down" video by RATT
@@TANTRUMGASM Yeah i know bruh, i have all the playboy issues too. She is perfection.
@@irresistablegraceinchrist6690 Best bush in the history of Playboy.
You can tell this was a bygone era when one of the commercial stills has liquor and cigarettes.
Inauguration of Harold Washington‽ My grandfather and I both shook his hand when he was campaigning, walking down our south side block the prior year. I was young, but it is such a vivid memory.
It has been said many times before, but I’ll repeat…this channel is a time machine!
I worked for city hall in the board of elections during his 2nd term. That's so cool all of these TV commercials.
56:27 Absolutely Stunning , Wow.
The "Lady by Jovan" commercial features a cover jingle of Kenny Rogers' "Lady".
I've searched for the Rick Sheckman show for a long time. Trailblazing film coordinator.
Thanks for the upload of Late night with David Letterman. Brings back fond memories
Thanks so much for uploading, especially with the commercials. Happy New Year.
That last interview was very awkward.
This is cool comes complete with commercials from this time period excellent 👍👍
Did anyone notice, on the station ID / promos for coverage of Harold Washington's inauguration, it sounded like they were using a remix or variant of the theme from "News 4 New York" as used on WNBC Channel 4?
I would love to see a a Johnny Carson and David letterman Tape that would be so awesome seeing the whole episode of Carson and then watching the episode of David letterman that followed
Before cutting to commercial, Dave refers to upcoming guest, “Robert Du-vowel” That was low.
I don't remember Entertainment Tonight on WMAQ Channel 5 before it was moved to WBBM Channel 2.
Random trivia 11:00 "Earl Hofert" is the name of Dave's uncle, and a frequent pseudonym of Dave's.
When was it on channel 5? I always remember it being on channel 2 growing up
Letterman moved to CBS in 1993.
The Carson credits has a familiar face ... Hey one of the guests was the cigarette magician! I forget his name...Tom Mullica? I was thinking of Metallica
My gif what a cornball letterman was is
Marianne is one of the most stunning woman I have ever seen .
