- Reviewing the new Viltrox 40mm f2.5 for Sony E mount on the ZVE1 vs the Nikkor 40mm f2 on the Nikon Z6 III. The Nikon lens has that vintage rendering with 3D pop and micro contrast. Does the Viltrox have that as well? It's way cheaper than the Sony 40mm f2.5 version. How's the autofocus? Does it make for a good slow motion street videography photography lens? Also testing these Novachips CFExpress Type B 1TB cards and the V90 SD Cards 512GB.

If the thumbnail is any indication to the true performance of the two lenses it looks like they are both full featured , well rounded and high performing. I could definitely see owning both and having what most would consider a very nice pair.

From what was shown in that side by side I agree it's a very hard choice which one to go with. Technically both have great features and though similar in some ways, they compliment each other nicely. I could see having both in my life as well.

Zeiss Batis 40/2, got it for $600 used. Poppy, crispy autofocus and sharpness. Batis is the best looking lens on a sony body hands down.

I really love the 40mm Toneh 2. Fits my Zf perfectly. They reallly should do many more different focal lengh Toneh 2 lens versions with same form factor.

Notably, the Sony with the third party lens has better AF than the Nikon with its own lens. This may be important for someone who relies solely on AF.

I don’t know if you know about this neat little trick with Sony. If you export files from catalyst as XAVC INTRA with output colour space left as S-Gamut3.Cine the resulting MXF file will behave like a raw video in Davinci. It will let you access the raw panel to edit these files.

In 25 years of digital photography I have had 3 cameras die. Two Sony’s and one Olympus. Considering I have only owned 4 Sony’s that is a 50% failure rate. I have owned many many Nikons. Never a failure. 😂 Guess what brand I stick to?

Wow. That's so weird. I have 7 Sony cameras in the last 13 years and the only one I'm having trouble with is the first one I bought when I was 16 years old. I dropped that one on concrete and now the battery door doesn't stay closed and there are weird pink vertical lines in the image in really bright environments. But it was fine before I dropped it on concrete. The other 6 Sony cameras have never given me a bit of trouble

@@yawningmarmot motherboard issues. The Sony was replaced under warranty but the Olympus was purchased used without proof of origin and Olympus would not consider a repair.

You could do much better on the Nikon straight out of Camera. Standard Profile Sharpness +1.00 Midrange Sharpness 0.00 Clarity 0.00 Noise Reduction OFF. Best image out of a Nikon Camera, better than log, better than RAW. Perfect Skintones in Standard.
The viltrox looks better on the Sony. I can’t believe it, it’s actually better that the Nikon z6iii

An easy choice for me. The Sony wins even with the Viltrox. It focuses faster. It's sharper. It doesn't pop...it bangs! Pop is lame, I want a big bang! And most importantly, no one noticed the Sony, while several of the women picked up on the fact that the Nikon was capturing them! I want a camera that doesn't give itself away....and result in my having to run for my life, like you did!

The exposure differences is likely due to vignetting. Viltrox lenses (and other high-element count lenses) have virtually zero vignette and will expose better. The lenses with significant vignette will force you to make a brighter exposure to compensate for the dark corners. Your histogram and metering will be confused. In auto ISO, the ISO will skyrocket and make the image much brighter overall. When you put the Viltrox on the camera, you will get an overall darker image (lower ISO, faster shutter speed, accurate metering/histogram) because it is actually exposing properly and doesn't need to compensate for vignette.
That backwards move is widely a "pacific cooler", or peddle fish. First there was Jaguars vs BMW, worgzaguxsetuzk or kaiden goody viltro. Rap was just hip pop, but the Jag never was a saloon nsx with 12in hub caps. You can put a mountain hill outside your window to create runoff and errosion. A tiny white house 🏠 ✨️ inside your household, with a window to stare at the new hillside outside of the bigger window 🪟 because the only way to be nowhere is dynamic.
This V90 cork happens on all the cards with Sony bodies ... Looks like not all the contacts are engaged ... re-inserting always helps. Stupid.

@@cameraconspiracies I do not own Sony V90 cards actually, but all other V90 cards happen to do it 1 in 10-20 times I put them in. So maybe it's some kind of Sony tactic to get you buy their 3x more expensive cards 😅😅😂

What do you think about Voigtlander 40mm Ultron f2 F mount? I know it need adaptaer and no AF. But have you tried it before?
The Sony captured the best scenes. I especially enjoyed the green shirt test. The level of detail is amazing.
What monitor are you seeing all this 3d pop on?
Viltrox is sharper. But Nikon looks better. Mostly (probably) due to lens, but partly due to the Nikon color science. Sony looks like a news program, Nikon looks film-ish.

In the future, maybe try a short camera strap set so camera sits high on chest. Yes, you will have turn your body towards the subject, but you can still turn your head away. Use a phone in your hand as a distraction. Won't be as good as holding the camera, but less suspicious.

I use the Sony 40mm f2.5 on my A7CII as my main walking around lens. If I had realized the Viltrox 40mm existed I probably would have gotten it, as I love my Viltrox 85mm .. almost as much as I love saving money! 😆

Camera doesn't matter much without a lens. In fact, the cameras get out-dated quicker these days.

I've been more interested in the Viltrox 28/1.8 for Nikon since they don't have one yet...yes they have the 24mm but I prefer 28mm.
Enjoyed todays out door 240p comparisons, the one lady gave you bad side eye 🤣🤣🤣 I don’t even own a camera yet but so many choices, maybe a used Sony given the latest sonygate firmware issues crashing peoples camera if they don’t fix it quickly.
There is definitely some "pop" followed by some gags in the street footage. Lens must be that strong...not to crack!
