The AC unit should, by it's nature act as a de-humidifier. As the warm air passes over the cold coils it condenses. The water should drop out of the AC unit and the cold air being blown out of the unit should be low in humidity. You may have too much horse power. If your AC unit is too big for the space it will not run enough to take out the humidity. It will cool the space too fast and leave you with cool wet air. You can get a dehumidifier and run that along side the AC unit.

    How's it working in mid-summer?

First you need to understand I have a fully insulated attached garage so it never gets above 84 degrees. So from this max temp down to 78 degrees, the lowest temp I take it down to takes about 90 minutes. So it is doing what it is advertised to do. However there is a draw back, colder air can't hold as much moisture so the humidity increases from about 50% to just over 60%. I haven't found a way to solve this yet, if you have any ideas please let me know (note, normal standalone dehumidifiers work on producing heat so just reheat the garage).
