Hello Friends,
Today I wanted to discuss a very important issue.
We all have the habit of using our cellphones before going to bed. This is very wrong or habit. Because of this practice, most of us face sleep problems.
The second is when we wake up in the morning, we feel tired & exhausted. Third, is depression.
The reason for many depression cases is because of our habit of using cellphones before bedtime. And it doesn’t stop there. Recent research says it may lead to diabetes and even heart diseases bec of sleep problems. It disturbs our metabolic & endocrine functions. Not just cellphones, but other gadgets like PC's, tablets emit blue light. This blue light enters through our retina and reaches the hypothalamus of our brain and disturbs the circadian rhythm. The circadian rhythm is responsible for our 24-hour day and night sleep cycle. Once it gets altered, we experience so many health problems.
Recent findings say that it is one of the primary reasons for absent-mindedness in kids.
There is a hormone called melatonin which is responsible for our sleep. These e-devices reduce the secretion of the melatonin and confuse the body between day and night. In such cases, you may experience depression. We may not know why we feel dull or depressed at times, but this might be the cause of depression.
In today’s life, it is unavoidable to stay away from these devices. But at least we can try to reduce the use of these devices and there are three things that can help you do that.
Firstly, do not use your cellphone or e-devices two hours prior to going to bed. You should make it a habit.
Secondly, after waking up, do not use the cellphones for at least 1 hour.
You may say it is impossible. But I say “Why can’t we practice?”
After all, it is our own body, our eyes, our health. If we need to stay healthy, then we need to start practicing these things.
Thirdly, even sunlight has this blue light. Sunlight is very important to maintain the circadian rhythm. So the first thing in the morning when you wake up, expose yourselves to direct sunlight at least for 20 to 30 minutes. If you do all these things, then the issues like sleeplessness, depression, and many other health problems can be avoided.
Unknowingly, we have been doing this for a long time and now our kids have started doing the same learning from us. We should stop doing this now. In the future, this may get worse and there will be more problems.
If we start practicing this now, we can avoid the most modern-day common issue like sleep disorders or sleeplessness. Sleeplessness indirectly contributes to weight gain issues too.
