take 2 of these, turn them on their side,
boom split 40% ish with "tenting"
unsure if you're joking or not but I found this video precisely to find larger macropads that combine to make a "split 40% ortho" 😬
everyone: JUST A NUMPAD????

literally why i came back to this video, especially if u play index and ring

Dang, that's actually a sweet form factor for an expanded numpad. Chuck on some symbols that are useful but missing from most keyboards, like root, infinity, and some of the more common greek letter, like pi and theta.
when does anyone use inifinity symbol tho
@@stantucker8862 Lims.
π, θ.
@@gambitman7158 presumably you'd be doing that in LaTeX, Word equation editor, or similar where you don't actually have to type the infinity symbol directly.

3:42 that cutout actually costs them more to make. You can see the machining marks. That means each one has to go onto a CNC machine to cut away material. It's not a molded piece like that.
Stellar! This is exactly what I'm looking for! I'd really like to see a video of you programming it, if possible. :)
This prob wouldn't happen but i just imagine a pop from the "foam" in the board 😂

“Nice” haha. Love it. You crack me up. This is a very enticing buy. Just built my own ID80 and now I want this macro pad to match. Haha. Very “nice” video sir, and I really like those hemp carry all bags.
Tactile gang and Linear gang need to team up to defeat the pure evil of MX blues
Edit: Guys, I found out my brother is MX blue gang, this is so sad.
MX Blues too powerful T-T
I don't think we can beat blue gang.
@Roadman George pig looking up how to cancel someone now
Razer green gang coming for reinforcements
My dumb self said "green game" instead of "green gang" but I fixed it
@Roadman George pig not until you jailhouse mod them
Love the soldering commentary! Keep up the great content!
memes aside.. you might be onto something with the bubble wrap mod..
I imagine lower-end keyboard vendors could ship boards with lesser-quality packing materials/anti-static foam. Then ship the boards with foam cutting templates that the customer uses to shape that packing foam into pcb dampening shape!
Higher end boards would likely still use higher end foam materials, sorbothane, etc.
Just a thought!
If they're going to do that, I think it would be easier to print the cutout directions and shapes directly on the bubblewrap, and in a repeating pattern so you're guaranteed at least one good set no matter how the print happens to align with your particular piece of packing.
subbed yesterday and Hipyo slowly becoming my fav youtuber... he's funny and knowledgeable! Ive been watching every video just to get a Hipyo fix haha
Pretty sweet little macro pad for a great price IMO! I'm usually not the biggest fan of Idobao products, but you can't really go wrong with this!

Yay! I love keyboard town. What a chill place.
So hey - I think you're doing a great job soldering with that fine-point iron, but that fine point might be making things a little more difficult than they need to be when it comes to anything larger than an SMD component. Use what works for you, of course - but I might suggest giving one of the flat-head solder tips a try? At least when it comes to switches, my flathead tip transfers a lot more heat to the pad more quickly than my fine-point one. (It looks a bit like a slightly chonky screwdriver end.)
Great advice thank you!
@@HipyoTech I came here to give you this exact advice a year late. So... how's that flat tip working out for you?
Good vibes to hipyo from 2022!
Really like the color scheme you chose for it!
I really like your tone, I think your become more and more comfortable with talking to your audience. Cheers mate 🙃
Feels so good to see you growing, you really got me back then with the pewdiepie keyboard
The cutout on the plate that you said was for cost saving would actually probably ADD cost to the manufacturing.
It's a piece of milled aluminum which means it's carved out of a solid block.
So they have to mill out that section which wastes material, takes longer to manufacture and adds wear to the milling tool.
Even if they recycled the shavings from milling out that tiny area, the gain would be so insignificant that there's basically no reason to at all.
I mean, I don't know why else it would be milled out like that, but I can't imagine it's for cost savings.
That was really fun stream and the finished build is clean, but the struggling with the software was not fun... but i hope in the finished product everything will be perfect.
I'm going to need a VIA tutorial ASAP🙈. I recently bought an ID80 (still have to build it) but have no idea have to flash a keyboard etc, since I'm new to this whole keyboard scene(I checked some video's of MechMerlin but it was still quite overwhelming) So I would highly appreciated a VIA tutorial.
Love the content and kind regards from the Netherlands😄
🥰🥰
I was there Gandalf. 3000 years ago when humanity decided ”smaller is better“
I love the text floating around the bottom, making me life everytime.
The Acrylic back is on the shop now! It's $19.99 usd. btw I didn't even know about this, would look too good next to an ID80 to not go for, simply for aesthetics 😅 had to jump in on it.
A VIA tutorial would be excellent my good sir!
still waiting for the next video on this, the via part!
I will buy one because i want something like a streamdeck but in a keyboard form while still having my main keyboard be a compact one without an attached numpad.
Love your content Hipyo!!!
i was suppose to be cleaning my room and i don't have any money but i just sat with my arms crossed for all of this video and enjoied it.
Just got it today and using this to try out mechanical keyboards for the first time, the reason why I didnt go with a budget build is because I probably wont stop using. Unlike modding a gk61 and give to a friend or just let it collect dust i can use the macropad forever.
Gotta love how this numpad is more expensive than my entire keyboard
came here after seeing the gorgeous zero two keyboard, you seem pretty chill, like it
where u saw the zerotwo board ⁉️
It's useful, been used it for spreadsheet work.
big pog, seriously considering picking one up now
Thank you Hipyo this is ordered today. The current Idabo pricing is 79.
a kinetic labs penguin switch review would be amazing! (preferably with the id80 v1)

thank u bro. really helps

you're really close to getting into real ortho gang territory... I'm proud of you. But for real that sounded nice and looked very clean. I will now sacrifice loquerish and hope that one day an ortho steals your heart

Hello, I am Mikey and I come from the year 2022. Just stopped by to send my awesome future vibes ~~~~ and to say that the future looks bright for you Hipyo!
Wow thanks so much future guy!
I was thinking of the title and something.. until the intro, he knows us all too well.
future vibes have been awarded to you
I'm def hopping in on this
So you should be able to program one of the leds as a num lock indicator for a windowed keycap? Alternatively could i just set it for all the LED at once and just desolder all leds but one?
Nice to know you went with the blank num pad
it looks super sleeeek
I just bought my first ever mechanical keyboard kit. Been rocking a razer blackwidow and decided it’s time to get a proper board. Thing is the nk65 is out of stock everywhere so I got the super user edition which comes in Q4, and Gateron Yellows are out of stock too. So I’m just gonna have to wait it out I guess
You could wait for the GMMK Pro.
There is also a lot of other good beginner boards, like the Idobao id80. Honestly, most hot-swap boards are going to be just fine imho
I'm WAY too late for this, but I would absolutely turn that 0 key into a space bar. I'd also set it up as a hex keypad because yes.
i may be in time for the group buy!
From the future....
You're closing in on 500k!

keep up the good work

Thank goodness I stumbled upon this

Hipyo: why just a numpad?
Me: *cries in accounting*
here's some good future Christmas vibes
There are enough buttons to type all 26 letters of the English alphabet. Also, some of the larger buttons could be used as function keys to switch the letter keys to numbers, symbols, cursor keys, etc. It might be overly convoluted though. Would anyone be insane enough to just use a numpad to type? I might try this.
Is there anything similar for a bit less? I'm looking for something similar that's completely programmable. I don't care about RGB or LED backlighting etc.
I plan on having 1 or 2 for use as simulator multi-function key pads in VR.
Also, what's a good tactile key-cap, that could be easily identifiable/distinguishable? in VR it can sometimes be hard to reference external controls. I only really have experience with OEM / Cherry profile keycaps. I was thinking something like MT3?
What's the MCU (Micro-controller Unit) being used in this bad boy? I couldn't see the chip number. I was wondering as I'm looking for ATMel based MCU to repurpose with my on code. :)

Good vibes from the future!
So on the website it says white LED's and the way those SMD LED are soldered it looks like that aswell. If I am correct, only RGB Underglow?
Yes
I noticed that the design matches the original ID80 closely, but the ID80v2 has less rounded corners (and is slightly shorter I think?) Can you comment on how closely it matches the ID80v2?
hey man…I’m in search for a THOCK prebuilt keyboard..do you have any suggestions??
Some people us them as stream decks for cheap, and so do I and it works pretty well.

So I flashed this board with no on board "reseT" button, figuring I could use the physical button under the board to reset and enter DFU mode. I need to re-flash, and the physical button isn't putting it into DFU mode, and I am out of ideas. Anyone experience this? And if so, find a resolution?
floor footer weather seal would work well for the padding. Or flooring pad.
Can you do a review on the Wooting Two keyboard?
Its amazing how he turns into owen wilson whenever he says wow.
needs a knob or scrollwheel, then- perfection!
The perfect keyboard set up for me is basically 60% with numpad on the left side for mouse space. I REALLY NEED A NUMPAD due to my work and sideline.
