    Wonderful information to share for all moms, dads, families and doctors! I always wished all the doctors I encountered when my kids were young, understood more about breastfeeding and provided support for moms to make the best choices for their babies both at birth and throughout their young childhood.

    Thank you everyone for watching, sharing, and supporting my talk! As TED states in their disclaimer, the study of medicine is always ongoing, so it is vital that physicians receive accurate education and training in this crucial area of normal human physiology. Thanks to the North American Board of Breastfeeding & Lactation Medicine, we now have a medical specialty in the US and Canada dedicated to this important field of medicine, and I am thrilled to be one of the first physicians to become board-certified in this field.

    This is wonderful! We've had the pleasure of working with Dr. Federici and are so grateful! She advocates for a family so they reach THEIR goals. If they want to formula feed, there's no shaming.
    There isn't enough support available to most breastfeeding people and Dr. Federici has really changed that in our community!

    This was so excellent!! It would be amazing to see a shift in medical care and advice when it comes to breastfeeding take off!! I hope your knowledge is well received and your challenge accepted to better educate themselves so they in turn can educate their patients!Side note...the TedX disclaimer was reminiscent of that bottle of doubt. Yikes. Keep on keepin' on, Dr. Federici- your "personal views" are an abundant resource of valuable knowledge from an amazing level of expertise everyone needs to hear!!

    • @karenfedericimd
      @karenfedericimd Před rokem +1

      Thank you! Your insight comparing the disclaimer to the "bottle of doubt" is spot on! Casting doubt when truly breastfeeding is simply the normal physiology for both mother and baby, so there should be no need to "prove" breastfeeding is healthy and prevents disease. Thank you again for your encouragement, I will definitely keep on keepin' on, sharing my personal and also professional views!

    This is an incredible speech! As a mom who desperately wanted to breastfeed…in the depths of the newborn days and struggles I could have easily stopped my nursing journey if I had not had such amazing advocates around me. They understood the challenges, supported me, and encouraged me along the way. I’ve nursed two babies to 15 months. You are so right. Every mother deserves this level of care on her breastfeeding journey and we can do so much better for moms and babies!

    Dr. Karen Federici is spot on with this very important message. Breastfeeding can be such a difficult and trying task as a mother and there is not enough support for young mothers wanting to breastfeed. As the mother of three, it was very difficult and there were not enough resources for me as a breastfeeding mother. I am so thankful that I was able to find Dr. Karen Federici. I was much more successful breastfeeding my third child and supported by her fantastic staff! 23 years later, my oldest now has her own child and the resources still aren’t there for the young mothers. More needs to be done to educate all medical professionals and our current culture to be much more open and supportive of breastfeeding mothers.
