My 2019 needed new rear shocks. Was going to be $900.00+ to replace . My son and I watched your video and replaced them ourselves. It went just like you showed. Thank You very much.

Sorry for the delayed response. I ended up taking a rag and vice grips to hold the stem in place while using an impact to remove the nut. Worked fine and didn't mar the stem on the old or new.

Thanks Markus, am stock at same place, with a old rusty absorber. Will try your suggestion. When you mention the "stem" are you talking about the bottom part of the absorber that attaches to the boot/assembly/wheel? tks

How did you pull the mounting plate off the old shock?

How did you end up doing this?

Yeah there's a mounting nut on the top of the shock that has to be removed so the plate can be mounted on the new shock. they forgot to add that part.

      @@robertravena yeah, they "forgot"

Anyone knows how much torque to put on the nut that holds the mounting plate to the new absorber? PS: I removed the old bolt with a impact gun using 18 MM socket, with the base of the absorber stuck in in a vice, as suggested by Marcus blow.

According to AutoFix, the nut holding the mounting on to the shock piston rod should be tightened to 22 Ib ft (30 Nm)

Typical Haynes....only tell you portions of the procedure. Worst manuals I have EVER read.
