- After posting the video of the train scene, a viewer asked if I could make a video of the same scene but ignoring the order of changing the tracks, to see what happens. So here it is!

Very interesting. So the G-man just kills her in any alternate timeline where she fails to do the right thing? Then again, I guess that's what he did to Gordon in alternate timelines where he fails. Seeing the aftermath of these failures would be interesting, though. Like, maybe just a few more lines of dialogue. "NO! There goes the train! Now what do we do?" Something like that.
I think he just stops caring about them as a potential hire.
Something just hit me.. "Subject" the text is known as Gman's employers looking at his report over what happens. How can Gman "fail" you and write that up in his report if he's imprisoned?
He´s not. So one theory is that HL alyx takes place in a pocket universe created by the Gman. When gordon gets knocked out at the end of Episode two, thats where the gman comes and puts her through the test to see if she's worthy to work for him. The whole HL Alyx is just a test to see if she has the skills to get him freed. The Gman never was imprisoned it just was a set up. When he turns back time, its the only thing he really does. Just 30 sek back in time. So Alyx can rescue her father and with that accepts the offer. Gman takes her with him. And then Gordon wakes up, Eli realised what the gman has done. Half Life Alyx is in Virtual Reality because IT IS A VIRTUAL REALITY....

There's no engine pushing or pulling the cars, that must have been a runaway
Either that or valve never intended for us to look for one
that razortrain was likely a set of self-powered railcars
With the razor train, which was also in Half-Life 2, the front car *is* the engine.

looking back, it's uncharacteristic of combine tech, it's usually very robust, but while playing, it was a good plot device for an epic scripted scene.

The combine seem to be horrible at maintaining their equipment in the quarantine zone. Didn't even think to clear out the infestation in places they were actively working in. I guess all the combine budget is going to the Vault.
So that first object you inserted after pulling the first handle.... Where TF did you get that stuff because I'm stuck there and can't get out and can't find the object.
What happens if you get hit by the train when you dont redirect it?
I'm guessing the screen will go black and not much more

Not sure if that's possible, since it looks like the map is coded to not spawn the train until you've started to pull the switch, and by that time, you couldn't get back on the tracks fast enough.
@@dogman15 I mean, if you grab it then you have a whole couple of seconds to get there right? Plus you can always teleport.

When the character approaches the switch lever, the game seems to start the countdown until the train arrives.
So, is it possible to get back to the track and get hit by the train?

What happens if you don’t do the stuff in the ending?
Shakeela nothing, you have to do that or nothing will happen, BUT in the post credit scene if you don’t take the crowbar the screen will fade to white anyway
I don't get why you have to derail the train. What's the purpose of doing it?
