DESTRUCTIVE SEVERE HAILSTORM in Calgary, Aug 5

  • On August 5th, 2024 A monster supercell brought flooding rain, destructive baseball size hail, and damaging winds. I chased this supercell through the foothills of Central Alberta into the Plains, and eventually, the North side of Calgary, Alberta. Over 35,000 buildings were significantly damaged from the hail alone.

    I was observing the dewpoints on the maps, the humidity wasn’t just from evaporation from crops it was mostly tropical air from the Gulf of Mexico.

    A temperature reading of 34.5° C was recorded at YYC International Airport on July 23rd! Over an 8 day stretch lasting from July 17th to 24th, every single day achieved daytime highs exceeding 30°C or above 86°F!

    i was in my basement and got a weather alert saying LARGE HAIL. Knowing my car was outside, it is not all too far fetched to assume I shit myself
