  • Hans von Haidsteig on Preinerwand/Raxalpe in Lower Austria
    Difficulty Rating: C/D
Embark on a breathtaking adventure along the via ferrata Hans von Haidsteig on Preinerwand/Raxalpe in Lower Austria. This scenic route offers an exhilarating ascent and a very demanding descent via the Holzknechsteig, featuring a large and steep rubble field. While there are various descent options, the Holzknechsteig is an adventure in itself that shouldn't be missed.
Built between 1910 and 1913, with significant additions like the iconic iron ladders in 1921, Hans von Haidsteig is not just a via ferrata but a journey through history.
Hans von Haidsteig is easily one of my favourites near Vienna for its stunning views and overall length. Whether you're seeking adventure or a scenic hike with a relatively easy ferrata climb, this trail offers an unforgettable experience.
Please keep in mind that in order to get everything into frame I have to really zoom out the camera, making the route look a bit more extreme than it is! It is actually fairly easy!
