  • The effects of an eating disorder on a relationship play out over an intense dinner.
    This film is a combination of Aashish and Kaylee's separate personal experiences in additional elements from other personal stories which have been shared with us.
    Our goal is to spread awareness about eating disorders and we feel our film is a new take and perspective into the daily lives of someone experiencing an eating disorder. As you can see, the film is finished!! We are so excited to share it with others! In order to get the most eyes on the film we are going to submit it to numerous film festivals. By donating you will be directly aiding in our ability to attend and submit to festivals. Currently, our festival fees are around $300. We'd like to submit to more but have already exceeded our budget and are needing further funding.

    When I was in the eating disorder section of the hospital, there was a male patient that had anorexia nervosa. I have suffered from anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. It never goes away. I go up and down in weight. But, at least I still eat and don’t worry about being “fat” anymore. I grew up as a chubby child. A lot of eating disorders start from all of the fat shaming in childhood.

    Am I the only one who was fed hyperalimentation via TPN? I was anorexic in the 80s at the age of 14 yrs old in 1986 through 1989. They fed me by placing a line in my superior vena cava (vein that goes to the heart). Every movie always shows people getting fed by a tube feeding via nasogastric tube. They wanted to avoid pumping a bunch of food into my stomach and intestines. You're hooked up to IVs for electrolytes as well if you don't get it by TPN. I still have cardiac and GI issues because of anorexia. They never show the hair loss, skin changes, intolerance to cold, aching body, shortness of breath, changes to teeth, etc. It's always the same. They don't eat, family notices, they pass out, NG tube, recovery. You never see the truly ugly side.

    • @IsabelleJane
      @IsabelleJane Před 10 měsíci

      @@charlottemonroy3372
      It’s not a feeding tube it’s a central line. It’s like an IV but more permanent. Central lines either have to be surgically placed or can be done at bedside it just depends what kind you’re getting. There’s different ways of receiving nutrition, TPN just so happens to be intravenously. NG tubes go in your nose or a G tube can be placed surgically. There are many different kinds of feeding tubes and central lime.

      TPN is still used in some situations, but as long as the patient has a working gastrointestinal system generally feeding tubes are used instead because TPN comes with a high risk of sepsis, a potentially deadly infection.

    This was so heart breaking. Ive had an ed for most of my life and it sucks. In and out of hospitals. All those times I've only seen a couple of men getting treatment. And I know it's because of the stigma. Men don't feel like they can reach out and other people don't take them seriously. I love that this film had a man play the role of the sufferer because this illness does not discriminate. It can affect anyone. And people need to realise that this illness hurts men too. The last time i was in treatment, last year, there were 2 patients who were older than myself. This mental disease does NOT discriminate whatsoever! The thing that DOES discriminate are treatment facilities The vast majority of them deny accessibility for men over 25. By law everyone is entitled to healthcare, regardless of age or gender. It's always baffled me how they get away with their discriminating policies.

    This was hands down the best film I have ever seen. It was very realistic and it was impressive how you could make the viewers sympathize with the characters, considering the length of the film. Giving a male character the disorder did not only break the stigma of only females dealing with them, but it also broke the stigma of females always understanding eating disorders/supporting them (supporting weight loss or diets no matter how thin the person is) . Recently I've been getting very triggered by seeing others dealing with eating disorders (for context I was hospitalized in february) and this really made me remember that everyone who deals with EDs are their own persons with their own lives. This movie makes it so clear that the persons dealing with the EDs may want to recover, but it really isn't that easy. Thank you for this masterpiece 🙏

    Award winning drama??? OMG. It was all about the "long suffering whiney drama queen girlfriend". I could barely watch because that family was so annoying. She made it all about her. That crazy brother needed to be committed too lol. I mean....what happened to CYRUS? Isn't that what it was about? Ugh.
    Edited to say it looks like I am the only one who feels this way about it haha. Unless al the comments are friends of the cast and crew. I just thought that it should have been about Cyrus and not the girlfriend. I mean, when I saw the scene where there was a group thing, I thought Cyrus was better and was going to be speaking...but nooo....it was the whiney girlfriend with the pained look on her face. What happened to Cyrus?

      Hello, thank you for watching the film. I just wanted to clarify our intentions about the short. Eating disorders (ED's) aren't just about the person that is being affected, they impact everyone around that person as well. In this film, we really wanted to highlight Cyrus and his relationship in order to show how loved ones can be negatively impacted by ED. While Cyrus was our protagonist, the story was so much more than what he was going through. As a student filmmaker, I am always learning and I appreciate your input on the story and will make note of how I can improve my writing for further films. Thanks for you're viewership. - Kaylee Johnson (Producer, Co-Director, Co-Writer)

      To show the dynamics of a codependent/enmeshment relationship for people with eating disorders. Usually people with EDs feel like they lack control over their lives, so they take control by developing extremely restrictive eating habits. The one thing we can always control is our own bodies. It showed that she was overbearing, and that he was likely repeating the same relationships that he had growing up as a child. His mother and/or father was also probably very controlling and overbearing and there was probably very few boundaries as to where his wants/needs began and theirs did. I have had anorexia since I was 14 yrs old, recovered at 19, relapsed at 29 yrs old, and am relapsing again at 50.

    The short film was good however the title wasn’t so good. The whole feeding tube = ED stigma is damaging. At no point does the guy with an ED have a feeding tube when in hospital he is intubated and the tubes you see are breathing tubes. I mean I guess there may be an attempt of portraying a nasogastric tube in the left nostril however the tube is very clear and not connected to feed or really go anywhere and plays such a small almost unnoticeable role in the film.
    It makes me angry that so many people portray feeding tube use just for eating disorders or cancer when that is so wrong and it’s misinformation. I’ve been tube fed and intravenously fed for 10 years now as my stomach and intestines don’t work. This is caused by gastroparesis which is linked to EDS (Ehlers-Danlos syndrome).

    By the way, I’m glad they made a film about the feeding tube because I noticed that the feeding tube looks different and it definitely comes from a psychiatric ward and all these lies about suicide or costing people a lot of money and hating the free healthcare budget even more these people left millions millions of dollars rather just put money towards hospitals so if people get HIV aids by some pandemic they just get $1 million upfront Because in FEMA and I looked it up your life is worth $1 million. The government has to give you $1 million from 0 to 18 it’s $1 million.
