The Stay at Home Choir and VOCES8 present the digital premiere of Dougie MacLean's iconic ballad 'Caledonia', in a sumptuous arrangement by the group's own Blake Morgan.
The project ran for four weeks in the Autumn of 2020 and involved more than 4300 singers from across the world in online masterclasses, rehearsals and social events led by VOCES8, and Stay At Home Choir directors Jamie Wright and Tori Longdon. - Hudba

Thanks guys - I was on the 'low end' as you say. And yes, we each recorded our bit at home and sent it in. Brilliant teaching was provided in advance by the Stay at Home Choir and VOCES8. Finally, yes, it took me 5 plays to find myself in the video. Thanks so much for doing this!!

Ya know.. at first i wasn't so keen on this rendition..truly..i dunno why..maybe because it was muted? But its actually one of my favourite renditions now.. the time it came out the fact at that time everyone felt closer... It's sorta special.. everyone did feel close during those pandemic years and i fear we are losing that again...which is sad... This reaction..the coments and the song can still bind us all.. hopefully

Voces8 are such a phenomenal ensemble. I've heard them doing this live, and it's beyond fantastic. If you like the combined choir concept, check out the one that started it all, Eric Whitacre's Virtual Choir. The first one had 2,000 voice, but by #6 it was up to 17,000. There are also several performances of Eric's music by just Voces8, all beautiful.

How are you doing ? Have you heard Ksenia Buzina do Superstar ? French horns, clarinet and all. A fine tribute to Karen Carpenter. Done flawlessly, in my humble opinion.
I’m singing second soprano in this. I found myself near the end of the video and you can only see my face for about a second.:D I took part in several of these during the pandemic. Now my real life choir is active again and I’m working more, so I have stopped, but Stay At Home Choir is still active.

The interpretor is often overlooked tbh but is always there when it comes to scotlands broadcasts.. was there all through the covid press shit... Scotland gets a lot of hate for being to left.... Well... Fine...
I think versions like this, similar to other choirs are beautiful, but they lack the personal connection that singers like Dolores Keane and Dougie Maclean can bring to the mix.
I find them too pure, almost alien. Need that little bit of grit and wobble to really carry the meaning of the song across
