This is totally incorrect ... The red tag lever pull releases the Park Locking Pawl in the gearbox - effectively putting the gearbox in Neutral. IT DOES NOT release the "Handbrake"

    Hello there...
I recently took my 2009 Jaguar XF to a mechanic shop. It wouldn't start so I had to have it towed there. To get it on and off of the tow truck, we had to pull that lever that is mentioned in the video. Everything worked fine and dandy, but when I returned a few days later to check on the car, I was told that the lever didn't work anymore and the car can't move. I am really curious on how this happened. Any thoughts!?!

Yes, this manually puts the gearbox in neutral, but DORS NOT RELEASE THE PARKING BRAKE!! My F-type is dead, ive got the gearbox in neutral this way, but still cannot release the electronic parking brake. These cars are such pieces of shit, cant even tow them to a shop when they break.

I've never had that issue but I know the earlier models suffered from a faulty rotary knob that wouldn't select a gear. You should be able to google it. Not sure what the resolution was.
