- Today on The Skid Factory We're running you through the process of building a 1200HP Capable Toyota 2JZ with the assistance of Goleby's Parts.
Starting off with a 2JZGE that we've Bored, Honed and decked we have added a set of I beam Rods, Forged Pistons and billet Main caps. The Cylinder head port size is still standard with the addition of some Kelford Camshafts, Springs and shimless buckets.

what was the black 'spoodge' put on the head gasket? RTV? (we were always taught not to put anything on head gaskets but that was stock gaskets) we were also taught NOT to put any oil etc on head bolts/studs as the reduced drag could affect the torque they were set to! also, is there any significance in the BLUE timing belts? ive seen a few Australian cars using them on various videos. are they stronger/longer lasting than stock ones? or just how that manufacturer makes them?

@@petelattimer6808 ARP spec to lube head bolts/studs so there is minimal friction, so all of the torque value is applied to pull the head down. Think about it, if you're running a head fastener in dry, and it takes say 10ft/lb just to overcome the friction of the dry threads, then your actual clamp force applied is 10ft/lb less than it should be

I was buying up 2jzge engines for $100 back in 2005ish. So many people were convinced that the GE was inferior, I never corrected them
But the gap between them was smaller than today no doubt.
It probably didn't make as much sense to put rods and pistons in a GE rather than sending it with a stock GTE bottom end as they are/were known to handle a lot of power.
I know the drift guys tend to go for the GTE blocks for things like the oil squirters, it does do a little better for the constant high rpm, abusive on-off-on throttle inputs and constant boost in those applications.
If you just want to do drag racing or high power 'street' type engines in the high hundreds of hp, either one is going to be totally fine
@@ryanf2709 i have a 2jzge vvti and just used the non vvti 2jz ge rods and gte vvti pistons in my 2jz ge vvti block and it made 450kw @1.5 bar boost with 50/50 mix with ethanol the prices of the gte is madness.
@@helplmchoking everything is the same just people just get brainwashed to say u must go for gte vvti we few guys here in south Africa that is even using 2jzge non vvti and that car is making 390kw 1

That engine already looks sic. 1200+hp and reliability, them words don't usually go together. Things like to break with that much power but we'll see.. can't wait for the next video. Thanks boys..

I'll always be an RB boy, you just can't beat that scream when they're up high in the revs and the free revving response is so much fun, even if they can't quite compete on reliability with the JZ motors.
That said, you gotta respect how thoroughly known and supported these things are. I know the joke is that all JZ engines have to be 1000 hp and that stock motors can easily make 4 digits, but the fact you can pick any power figure within reason and know there's a known and tested formula of all the parts you need to make that figure, and those parts are always available even if the motors aren't $100 like they used to be, is such a cool thing for what used to be very custom aftermarket power figures.
That said, if you just want big numbers out of a 6 cyl with reliability, the Barra is still the most solid option - literally. Only trouble is making an engine that tall and heavy actually fit lol

That head gasket set up works really well and should hold all the boost. Robby Abbott did mine back in 2017 and she still holding up today. Cheers lads

I remember when I was building my Honda 1.8L DOHC VTEC turbo engine for my 1997 Civic coupe and I bought a set of Skunk2 Tuner Stage 3 cams. I remember that when I degreed the cams I didn't have to adjust them at all and that engine now makes 709 whp. It's scary in that car.

Great video guys, I thought I would ask ya's, how much does it cost to have a 2JZ GE setup for a Commodore? Cause I am thinking of getting a Single Turbo 2JZ GE setup for my VT Commodore and I've heard that I will need to have my Commodore rewired completely to have a 2JZ GE running.
Al, my Gran had a '63 Chev Nova with a 194 c.i. inline six and a Powerglide... 0-Church in 15 minutes. No nitrous (except from the dentist).

@@theskidfactory Sorry, but it rusted back into the ground. After she passed my Dad kept it for a while. Pity we didn't know about $2K Barra's at the time... Powerglide in it didn't eve need a trans cooler ... She had a '57 Plymouth before the Nova.
Is there a reason the tensioner pin isn't pulled when you degreed the cams? I know you have to ensure they are measured in the clockwise direction. But i assumed the tensioner needed to be engaged on the belt as well.

Guy's you should never take material off the big end cap like that.
You grond the big end cap with the grain Structure in a way that will promote cracking.
It should be taken off each side of the rod where there isn't any stress points 👍
Are you absolutely certain the joint specializing in high power JZ motors doesn't understand the implications of grinding material off the rotating assembly? I do wish there was a bit more in-depth coverage of these details though. Same with the prep work that went into the crank and whether balancing the bottom end as a unit rather than indivifual sets of components adds anything. I have zero doubt they know what they're doing but I don't and I enjoy geeky stuff, even some maths regardless of the fact it may fly over my head.
@@papapetad Removing material from the rotating assembly will help with how smooth the engine will be Throughout its rev range when its been bsllanced.
What i was pointing out was the connecting Rod big end caps have been ground in a way that have made them weeker.
If material needs to be removed to balance the assembly it should be taken off in the correct places not to jeopardise the structural integrity of the components.
