thank you for the lecture it was very interesting. i disagree with your opinion that no one should follow machiavelli's advice, and its just a joke, and he didnt really mean it. we would like to think humans are absolute angels each and every one and reject machiavelli's teachings. but wanting to believe something despite reality is wishful thinking.
Thanks. To be clear, not my opinion. Just presenting some different interpretations and ways that other theorists have tried to reconcile tensions in Machiavelli's thought. That particular one is put forward by Mary Deitz in her essay "Trapping the Prince."
