Wowmanyougotsomeheavystringsman
Nahh mannn, theey're just tens dudeee...
I want that quote on my grave "you know? i don't know."
This is my favorite rig rundown
Perry Bean knows his shit. I like the questions he asks
Coke interviews weed!
Have an AVRI Jazzmaster but awesome to see how much he uses the J Mascis JM. Sweet guitar that I would totally like to own.
The Squier JM Mascis model is the only one that has the Gibson TOM bridge.Because the radius is 12" , and the neck radius is 9& a half, you can't get the string heights right,- which is why he's got the Mastery replacement bridge on it .The stock pickups are also hinky, which is okay until you play clean.
It's cool, but they offer several models that don't have the issues.Love the JM sound.
imagine a conversation between stephen and phil anselmo..........
Cool rig rundown! love how laid back and down to earth stephen is. knowledgeable about metal and gear, and completely not pretentious..........
always like it when they spend some time on the board, thanks! would be great if they could sample some of the stomp tones more often, seems to vary by artist. thanks for the insight, dig the rig rundowns!
From the moment I saw the HiWatt stack I knew this was gonna be good.
Cheech Marin should have done this rig rundown
What a dude. Great setup!
first time I hear Stephen talking. Came expecting a chill dude and didn't disappoint me, he totally sounds like a stoner
Stephen McBean's gear approach seem to me to be informed by his love for 70s prog & 80s hardcore, which is a really unique contrast. There are some vintage pieces in there, mixed with cheap pawn shop finds; high end and low end simultaneously.
There is a ZVEX Super Duper 2in1 pedal on top of the HiWatt. It's not plugged in but I've seen pics of it on his board in the place where the Ditto looper is in this rundown. Apologies to those who read this comment and aren't as geeky as me :)
That dude's beard is freaking awesome, I also love the Les Paul as well
Awesome Rig rundown! You guys should catch up with Phil X when he's on tour with Bon Jovi!
Yeah I love this series and have learnt so much from it. I see so many comments bashing the presenters and yeah I have my favourites but cmon they're all decent. I just wish artists would make more time for you so we could hear everything in action. Surely they must realise it is seriously great promo for them?! ✌🏼️
Perry seemed like he was rushing to meet up with his coke dealer
Soundcheck was looming with doors quickly following so we were a bit rushed since the band showed up late due to van/bus troubles. Sorry that you guys don't know the full story on these shoots, but it almost didn't happen. Thanks for checking our our videos!
His Les Paul is soooooo gorgeous
These interviewers need to not overtake the show and let the musicians talk. Countless times I hear the musicians cut off. I care to hear the musician not the interviewer and honestly the only thing the interviewer needs to do is ask questions. I don't enjoy the rushed short rig rundowns. Let these guitarists talk! Obviously you can edit out the dead space if needed.
Sorry, Justin, Perry was really excited to host the RR and soundcheck was looming with doors quickly following so we were a bit rushed since the band showed up late due to van/bus troubles. Sorry that you guys don't know the full story on these shoots, but it almost didn't happen. Thanks for checking our our videos!
Good point, we don't know and I did think of that later after commenting that maybe the interview was time sensitive. Sorry for the harsh comment. At the same time you have a lot of fans that care about these rig rundown episodes. Thanks for getting these up on a weekly basis. Look forward to the next.
Honestly I think Perry is the best PG interviewer, asks the best questions and is the most charismatic enthousiast of them all.
so glad Richard Stallman stopped caring about open source software and started touring
I dig PG!!! ;) ALWAYS GREAT INFO!!! ;)
02:00 "Sometimes heavy picks, sometimes light, [inhale] ..sometimes... [pause]... you know...[pause] .I don't know..the way that like loose like you know strings vibrate and stuff ... you know tuning with like fuzz and stuff....[pause].. sounds cool....you know."
The most laid back guy...I’m going to check out a video of them live, wouldn’t it be funny if he acts like a mad man when playing live. 🤣🤣🤣
This guy is out there
This Rig Rundown is brought to you by weed and blow
you forgot to ask him what he is smoking backstage.
beefy metal tone with a hiwatt? Has Perry every played one?
What's that sound perry makes at the end?
awesome.
Just here to ask if he's holding a J Mascis jazzmaster in the thumbnail? Can't be arsed with PG unwatchable videos.
@1:33 Sherlock Holmes setting up the drums. It's elementary.
the differences between these two guys is wonderfully uncomfortable to watch. maybe it wasn't that way in person but it cracks me up to watch.
A preoccupations (viet cong) rig rundown is a must!
Idk why I like both of these People
The interviewers should really let the guys talk more before they interrupt them to ask something else or a superfluous comment. I'd really like to hear what they have to say. Just let em talk and when they're done ask a question. Get very annoyed watching these when it happens quite often.
Alex Young yeah but I think some of these guitar players need a little push. they're not exactly articulate with there words , some are pretty slow.
Do you hear the guy hes interviewing? You try interviewing him for a tv segment. You have to remember it's not just a conversation. This guy is an Interviewers nightmere
Seems stoned, someone get this man some Doritos...STAT!
I would love a rig rundown with:
Richard Thompson
Lee Ranaldo
Earth
Tortoise / Brokeback (especially curious about amps for Fender Bass VI)
Mogwai
Thompson would be great because he is one of the best guitar players around, but his setup is very simple. Might not be the most interesting Rig Rundown for gear nerds.
stephen Mcbean is on willie nelson time!
This seems like a fairly accurate representation of what Kevin Kline would look/sound like if instead of spending his years of one-room-cabin based isolation focused on perfecting his unabomber's manifesto, he was just trying to make it cover to cover through a "Where's Waldo" book.
Jesus. If it is 77-79 probably G-12M 25 watters , could be GT-65 if it is 1979-1982, if it is later it's 75's. Those would be the common selections.
riveting
do a Warpaint rig rundown
i think stephen Mcbean took the pineapple express to this rig rundown!
I didn't know Tom Araya plays lead guitar.
Wow he's high so early. Omg.
baked off his choppppssss....
Steve Jones is why I play music. His sound is so simple. I think he just uses a Fender amp turned up.
I think this guy might be just a LITTLE bit stoned! That J.M. Jazzmasters play and sound great though, even stock!
I find lots of fellow Canadians from the Lower mainland area(Vancouver) to be very soft spoken and mellow even when not stoned. It slowed Perry down a bunch for once though hahaha
The stock Mascis pickups have more alike with P-90's than traditional Jazzmaster pickups. Little bit too much mid content, rather than that traditional scooped Fender sound.
This guy sounds more stoned than Andy Aledort
OK kids, this is a perfect example of why you should NOT drop acid before an interview.
you guys do such great gear reviews ... why in the hell would you ever do this?
after 7:30 its john bohlinger or nuthin
Oh wow that was hard to sit though lmao.
Tame Impala next!!!
Perry seems speedy cuz McBean is stoned.
Tom Araya? How's your new side gig?
lol I love how all the people saying they're on drugs aren't making music as good as Stephen's or doing interviews like Perry's. CZcams is so full of negativity.
Usually the negativity stems from their own shortcomings, and total anonymity.
Jimmy Fallon meets The Big Lebowski!
why are so many eager to point out that he may be stoned ffs, yeah he smokes i smoke millions smoke and enjoy playing n making music while stoned get over it...
Ohh miss Dirks where are u ?
Say what you will about Perry, it seems to me like he's actually chilled out a little bit, and I think we can all agree that's basically a good thing.
Smoke pan everydaaaaayyy..
I think Steve may have some memory issues ....
yep...wineburst for sure...and here's some another metric ton of weed for you too.
Natural depressing is more like it.
Jimmy Page please.
Bean going up with lifters and McBean on downers makes me annoyed. That old phaser at 11:55 looks like painted on to pedalboard.
God this interviewer is unbearable!! Let Stephen talk about his gear, man!! Quit trying to finish his sentences!!
See here:
Coke vs Weed
This guy is a slow thug
totes awks. Hard to watch
Perry is all sorts of ADHD!
Dang Perry lay off the meth!! I know the cat is really laid back . But chill out and give him a chance to talk .
Just imagine this guy speaking with J Mascis.
hahahahahaha
🤔...😂
LOL Torture
LOL Torture
Potheadception :P
