I’m currently watching this while high and got emotional just now. I always knew I loved this album but I didn’t realize just how much it meant to me until this video. Seeing you show this album to your dad with such pride has me in tears. Lil Wayne deserves all his flowers for just this album ALONE.

When wayne shot himself it was bc it was a suicide attempt when he was a kid but he missed his heart. It wasnt an accident but intentional, i think he was around 13 when he did it and after that incident he put his all into rap with the support of his mother. Another incident when he got shot at was when his tour bus got shot up but idk if it was b4 or after carter 3 but he wasnt hit im pretty sure

The truth about Carter III is that it had to grow on ppl. The more I listened to it the weeks and months after it came out I saw the genius in the project. But his mixtapes after Carter II leading up to III were crazy. At that time he was the mixtape King before Gucci took over the mixtape game. It was a commercial project but it took him to new heights. Wish they promoted Carter II like they did 3.

“They can’t stop me” is a lot more nuanced than just rappers, the government has tried to censor rappers since the creation of Gangster Rap, I’m sure Lil Wayne had big law troubles around the time of this release or at least throughout the time he was at his peak/biggest.

"Why do all the rappers think somebody is trying to stop them??"
I like that energy but the reason why is because Rap is the only musical genre that's inherently competitive and it's always been that way, it's like a sport basically. Asking why do rappers rap about someone trying to stop them or being better than other rappers is like asking if LeBron James if he thinks the players on the team he's playing against that night are trying to beat him.

This album changed the way I looked at Wayne just in general I knew the man was talented and he could rap but this album put him in that GOAT Conversation and propelled him into Legend Status and this album birth a whole generation of rappers for good or for worst and around this time period Wayne was unstoppable/untouchable all while sipping on dat Lean,I definitely recommend y’all watching the Carter III backstory it’s a very interesting story simply cause this album was so anticipated and it was pushed back many times cause of Leaks but still Wayne pulled off the impossible and that’s becoming the “Best Rapper Alive” and actually having the world/hip hop world not combat him over the title✍🏽🐐🔥🎯💯

To ya pops point about competition. As a rapper, who's been rapping since a kid, it's honestly how hiphop culture is. Bragging about you and yours, (be it true or lies) tend to lead into projecting that others have become aware of the things that you've done. And for better or worse, those people move in response to your alleged greatness.
