Honestly, it looks like a good pickup. You'll have inventory for a little while, but it will move. There's some nice slabs also
That Daredevil with the skull is 1st cameo appearance of Super Spider-Man.
Nice books for collectors without big wallets. They should sell swiftly. IMO
The Deathlok is also the first George Perez in comics
Nice Gary - yes I agree it will take some time but luckily for you, you have the resources. An average guy it would take forever - Some cool books though - thanks for sharing
When you said $9000 I almost spit my water out
Why the guy is wealthy. It didn't hurt him.
I love the hustle! You'll make it work.
Love it Brother. Thanks for sharing Your passion and adventures 😎👍♥️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️📚📚📚📚📚✨️✨️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️✨️✨️✨️✨️💯💯💯💯💯✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️
Oooh…I want that Spectre 8. It is one of my “love that cover” comics. That one is by Nick Cardy (so underrated as an artist) and the story is an alliteration dream. The Power of Parchment Perilous.
I think your gonna make out. 100 slabs at $40 a piece is $4000. Obviously, your gonna make more on a lot of those slabs. Plus the major keys and then 20+ long/short boxes with a lot of $10-$20 dollar books. I think you made out pretty good..
😵💫
That looks like a great buy in my opinion, but Iin my case, I wouldnt be worried about selling them.
I agree on the iron fist, and the demon. I've been looking for both and getting a high grade
I think 9k is high, but should break even over the grind!
Definitely gonna be a grind but with your knowledge and instincts I trust that you will make a profit. I would not have paid that much but you are the expert. Looking forward to your setup at KingKon
Appreciate that
With that many boxes, and the quality of the books in that first one alone.... I'd guess there's some way nicer keys hiding in there that the seller didnt even know about, $100+ books. I think you can definitely make back your money, but yeah it takes a long time to sell that many books.
A lot of work for little reward.
Would of sold this myself if i owned it all, thats just as much fun as collecting it. I won't ever understand it. But I also dont need money, and when i buy comics, it's disposable income. Tough times with inflation and the price of everything in life now.
If you put in the work and have patience, this is an excellent buy!!! Yes, the wrong grades, but they are definitely the right books and worth the long term investment!!!
the first star wars #1 was the 35c variant 😄
oh for sure - wow nice
@@BigMoneyGripMCV I must have missed it twice. I saw a 35-cent issue #5. That is not a variant,
@@TheSameoldjoeah, Travis' post had me brainwashed so i saw it as a #1 in my head.
Perfect inventory for Whatnot
And ebay live!!
Gerry, you will make money on the collection it's just gonna take time but keep your head up cause I think you will still make a profit on those books.
Moon Knight #25 is the "error edition" with the white dot in the middle of the page.
Wow a white dot!? Maybe a blue Galactus like secret wars but lets not get carried away here.
22 long boxes. $9000. you're telling me this guy got $400 per long box? That seems pretty good. Most fair price I have ever heard a buyer give to a seller. You could easily recoup by blindfold re-selling some of those boxes unpicked at $600/box.
Has the fact that the opening sequence doesn't have any music been already addressed? Am I behind the times? I miss that opening music.
Check that wolverine book you didn't pull up at 16:12. Not positive but maybe a 30 dollar. Good book I think will sell quick for affordability. Too bad need to sell 490 of them
Yup this is what my collection looks like, i guess i have some work to do to get rid of them all at some point. lol
I'd be interested. Haha.
I'm from Connecticut. What city was it? I was kind of surprised about what you paid but the slabs will always sell just because of the quick turn around and people not wanting to wait for a comic book to come back from being graded. Plus I bet there's more key issues you just haven't seen yet.
Me too.
Old lyme
Time is money, minus Federal tax too. I agree. This collection was not worth the time and effort for $9k. Great video as always.
You have approximately 6200 books conservatively, main keys, plus slabs and you’re saying you’re paying too much? Let’s be clear everything worth while is work! Did you get it dirt cheap where you can obviously double your money? Uh, no! You cannot expect to double your shell-out every deal otherwise no one would want to give you deals. Be happy you have product. Not every deal is cream gravy on a plate handed to you. If you clear 30% profit every tax season when doing P&L statements when your books close you’re doing something good!
Dealers and flippers like him that use 50 percent profit as a benchmark are nuts as books have been dropping. If you can make anything and not lose money it’s considered a win in my opinion.
Did you account for the cost of labour and TVM of capital?
I do agree that there is far more value here than he paid.
@@michaelsharkey4255 you know what’s really nuts? Look at American Gold 1oz Eagles. Each monster box contains 500 coins. The entire box weight is 46 pounds with all the packaging and gold. Total gold raw weight is approximately 34.39 pounds. Spot at the time I’m writing this is 2233.00 an ounce. Take 2233x500 coins and that comes out 1,116,500 dollars. I know a man who just sent a red monster box of American Gold Eagles to get certified. Gold commodities change every second during the work week. The price could drop big time Tuesday morning and he would be at a huge loss. I think it is safe to say no risk no reward. It’s all a perspective of what you’re willing to do and not do on risk. At least comics doesn’t change every second of the work week.
This is why some people become disillusioned with the hobby. It's not a hobby. It's predicated on an economic transaction and value where everyone is looking for value. It's not like other hobbies where people simply do it for the fun, and where vendors create things, not take advantage of others for profit.
@@brewfront well stated!
I'm not a pro in any form. But I'd put 9k into that. As long as it's not on leverage, I think you'll do great. But again, I ain't no pro, this is hobby for me
Like werewolf by night.
daredevil 21 is 1st app superior spiderman
Not that hard to sell, bulk the books together as lots. Sell book one at a time, yes. People love buying lots. Sold 2 long boxes one time in no time doing that. People like buying in bulk, less shipping, more value. It's not that hard.
Did you go DEEP into Connecticut or did Connecticut go DEEP into you ... thats what she said .. great video .....
What's up with that Porky Pig comic?
Alotta those early Dell books like porky, baby huey, poeye, ect. fetch a pretty penny since most were given to kids and mangled. Especially 50s and 40s era
Harbinger. LOL Is anyone actually seeking this out either raw or slabbed?
9.4 or better? Absolutely!!
@@marcpatten4318 Huh. I didn't think people were still interested in Valiant. Slabbed #1's are obviously a different animal.
People do like some of the early valiant. Especially something that is difficult getting in high grade
Here’s the thing I don’t understand. Isn’t the market down right now with inflation and cost of living crisis and major layoffs. I’m not saying lowball the seller but couldn’t you have asked a little off the top of the price and haggled a bit?
Next time you go buy a collection make sure you watch this video.
Would you sell me that wolverine #1
$9,000 you definitely overpaid
You over pay quite often imo.
Ouch 😂😂
I guess you'll have to make an Onlyfans account to break even
That's the obvious next step.
Don't feel bad for rich people. U under paid for plenty of collections.
I'm far from rich my friend. If I was I certainly wouldn't be selling books. Only buying.
Was 6k not an option? I feel like you need someone with you to negotiate better. You’re entirely too generous.
Let’s give a little credit to the seller as well. Not every deal can work out better for the buyer. It’s give and take and if the buyer doesn’t like the price he can walk away.
@@michaelsharkey4255 I give a lot of credit to the seller. My question was directed at the buyer. I feel like he's too generous. I don't know maybe there's some good stuff in the rest of the haul. I didnt see it.
15:31 Simpsons book.
That’s important one for me.
That’s like 1st Simpsons book ever. Very high value in 9.8, beans 🫘 in a 9.6.
"Just not the right grades"... sigh. Good ol' Gary, furthering the "tier" levels of class and worth based on his own expensive tastes. I'm out.
Dude was slabbing was everything, things that had no business being graded.
agree, sometimes though some books look great but have very obvious pressable defects if I looked at it. A lot of people who have no idea what they are doing slab books unpressed lol
$9K for this, ouch.
Check that wolverine book you didn't pull up at 16:12. Not positive but maybe a 30 dollar. Good book I think will sell quick for affordability. Too bad need to sell 490 of them
