    Lovely to meet you and many thanks for the footage and for highlighting us. Seeing you just before the 4k mark gave me a massive boost as you'll see when our Vlog comes out. I know what you mean about possible regrets about not latching onto the group in front. It's almost had they had the flashing pace lights like at the Night of the 10000 pbs and you'd have known for certain that was a Sub 16 train you'd have gone for it at that point. Massive well done to Cory. He looked so smooth. A great evening of racing across the races which you captured really well. That Sub 16 will come - in cooler and calmer weather. Best of luck for Cheltenham and Abingdon.

      Thanks guys, lovely to see you both as well! Very true… easy to think about things after the race but it’s what you do in the heat of the moment that counts!!
      Best of luck this Friday for Dawn 👊

    Ohhhh sooooooo close!!!!! BRAVO BRAVO Andy!!! So impressive!!! Remember when you would’ve given an arm to run 16:09??? We all often tend to forget the progress focusing on what we want next !!! And BRAVO Corey , scorching time!!

    • @TheFODRunner
      @TheFODRunner  Před 18 dny

      Yes absolutely…. I keep reminding myself of that, running 16:45 3 years ago, 16:20s 2 years ago, and now low 16s this year… I’ll work hard again next year to get that 15:XX!! Thanks Bev 😀

    Very inspirational Andy. I’m following the same philosophy of speed block before CIM block. Last month I ran 18:48 at TrackSmith 5,000 here in Boston. By no means a PR but hey I’m 53 y/o now!! Keep chasing time friend because Father Time isn’t waiting for anyone.

    I still use the VF1s and they’re still effective. Often it comes down to how you and your legs are feeling.
    We all often have regrets about decisions during races but personally I think it was better to finish strong than very likely blow up - I mean that sub 16 pack was shifting and catching them would have needed a massive effort!

    • @TheFODRunner
      @TheFODRunner  Před 18 dny +1

      Yeah very true… I’ve played both scenarios through in my head… I can’t work out which one would have been better but at the end of the day, it’s done now!

    So close Andy. Low 16s is nothing to sneeze at. I'd have loved to have run anything close to that. Also pretty amazing how many elite and 15 to 16 minute runners were at that race. Definitely some stiff competition. You should try another 5k before the year ends. Seriously sometimes marathon training can really build that extra speed you need to break 16. As always, love your videos and no nonsense approach to training.

    congratulations Andy, another strong and hard run. I agree with you about the surge you were talking about, but at the end of the day, the marathon is the number one goal
    so many very fast runners in a local race, it blows my mind, even in my best days, most of them would have been out of my sight, and on a track i would have gotten loped 2 or more times.....recover well, the autmn is coming soon

    Cracking video yet again. I’m having a similar battle to you, but 2 minutes slower trying to break 18 minutes. Ran 18:01 at park run on Saturday down from 18:09. Thought it was in the bag but a heavy rain shower and accompanying headwind thought otherwise in the last 800m. We go again!

    • @TheFODRunner
      @TheFODRunner  Před 17 dny

      Thanks! Not a lot… I’m clinging onto my summer speed longer than I should 😂 in all seriousness, dropping the odd race in is a good way to break things up and test fitness… but I’d say 5ks aren’t the usual type of race you’d do

    The consistency is there, you’re no longer a sub 17 5k runner who might have that one good race. You’ve moved to be like you say, a low 16 who even on a very bad day can still post sub 17. To me that’s progress.

  • @adrianbjones
