  • I love to grill fish on the grill. For anyone just starting to think about grilling seafood, look no further than planked salmon. The magic of the grill coupled with the ease of cooking on a cedar plank makes for a fantastic meal.

I have cedar on my property and grill fresh caught salmon on planks all the time. I do not use salt and pepper, just dill and lemon. Add some wood chips to the grill for extra smoke, and have a spray bottle handy for the planks when the edges catch on fire. You can re use some of the planks if you like.

I'll have to try this next time I cook salmon. I did it on the Genesis last time, but I'll have to try it on my One Touch next time.

Shouldn't the plank be placed on direct heat? Or at least pre-heated on direct heat?

Thanks! It is actually on a lower part of the deck, but as spring arrives, I have a feeling it may be moving "up top!"

What's the best way to setup the burners for this dish? What's a good target temperature?

$15 per plank I agree seems very expensive to the say they least, I predicate this on the assumption that because of the extensive soaking, the fact that theyv must loose their smoke quickly as it infuses into the food and that they can catch fire and burn (hence the water spray) all must mean these planks are single use and can't be washed and used again. In which case will defo check the cheaper non OEM version because if only single use, the cost per pertion along with the ingredients would be very dear.
If they are reusabale even if just for 5 plus cooks then I would consider the OEM.

been cooking salmon this way for decades and have made many of my own recipes, DONT use sockeye salmon this way there's not enough fat content in the salmon

I mean the charcoal is going to add a lot more to the flavor than the plank anyways. I take it you just don’t like things grilled or smoked, or do you like eating charcoal too?
