Mary-Jess and Di Xiao perform 我爱你中国 (Wo Ai Ni Zhongguo - I Love You China) a glorious Chinese operatic aria known and loved throughout all of China.
Mary-Jess and Di Xiao worked on this collaboration especially for Chinese New Year 2020, the year of the Rat, and for this sold out celebratory event at The University of Birmingham as organised by the China Institute.

"Hailed as 'a pianist of awesome gifts' and named among the top ten up and coming Chinese pianists by the International Piano Magazine, Di‘s international career started at the age of 17 when she played Chengzong Yin’s Yellow River Piano Concerto in Kuala Lumpur for the Malaysian Royal Family. Since then, she has performed in over twenty countries and in many of the World's most prestigious venues."

I cannot imagine how difficult it must be to focus on your voice as you sing a challenging song and at the same time making sure you pronounce the words correctly in a language in which meaning changes quickly depending on how you form its sounds.
