Very informative. Thanks much and keep them coming. 👍
Good video!!
Awesome video!
what an awesome show,!!!
Now that Rich is a great trapper!!! Good Job!
I dont know about your wolverine in Alberta, but ive been out hunting for moose here in bc and one evening me and my cousin Brain seen a very big jet black wolverine big as a medium black bear i mean he was very big , never in my life seen a Wolverine this big at least 80 - 90 lb running at 35 km an hr in front of the truck . Wish we had a camera that day for proof of the biggest wolverine ever seen or caught on camera.
Wow!
great video. very interesting. from north dakota, usa. thumbs up
Great...
Good idea. I am going to start using heavy gauge wire mesh for my bobcat and fisher cubbies.
@Louie Evan i don't use google for anything, not even to wipe my butt
@Alfredo Maxton one guy, two online personalities. You are a weird person
i do the rope thing often with my trap because i hate carrying those big trap setters. I'm a lazy guy i guess, but leaving a setter means i can carry an extra trap. I also find that my trap setter can also be a pain when trying to put the safety on the springs. The rope doesn't get in the way.
You have a real knack for TV and a great personality for it. You are great at promoting this trade!!
Thanks for the kind words about the show. Please spread the word.
Never had a "setter", used 1/2 inch nylon rope because the quarter inch got stuck in the gap on the loop & the 1/2 was WAY easier to pull/handle. Kept that rope in my pocket which saved my life in a wolf pack attack. Gun jammed, barely had time to climb a tree & tied myself up in the tree w the cocking rope for 3 days before the wolves gave up & left. Alaskan trapper... WAS PREPARED, had jerky in my pockets & a zip lock baggie to melt the snow in inside my snowsuit before drinking it. After that, carried a backup 22 pistol in case I ever got treed again. Could have shot the hell out of the wolves that had me treed. NO hard surfaces to foot set the 330 springs. DID have a pipe wall clamp mounted on top of my sled trapper supply box to hook the jaw end of the #4 Jump traps opposite the spring side. Used my foot to push down on the spring while the pipe clamp loop held the chain attachment side down. Love thoes #4 jump traps. Only had 1 wolverine get out of 1 of thoes . DID have a big wolverine tear out a jaw from its jaw pivot hole & escape. Bent the jaw ends up into hooks on the rest & never had another escape. Unending learning experience.....
Trapping can be a lot of things, boring isn't one of them!!
great informative vid def gonna try that set with mesh wire
We just got back from video showing a couple more shows with these folks. They are going to be awesome!
thumbs up..
We used to make our houses out of layers of spruce boughs for our wolverine traps. We found that they insulted the house and kept the bait from freezing solid and it held the scent inside the house. But your screen setup would be much faster. Nice upload! Thanks.
I just got home from another trip with these folks. Awesome shows coming for season 5!!
Nice man.. Alberta life!!
Yep! Merry Christmas!
I miss trapping so much ever since I moved away from alaska trapping is just not the same
Alaska is a special place! Not much compares to it.
Any idea what that wire mesh is normally used for? I’ve looked at the hardware store and can’t track it down. Thank you!
Stucco wire is what it is around here. Look at the lumber yard.
Stucco wire or chicken wire
I used H stands to hold the trap. Wire to the tree probably better but the stand was there and easy. I don’t have any more so wire to the be tree from now on.
It all works good!
Wat een vakman mooie film en natuur
Thanks!
Круто!)
Thanks!
I've never seen anyone set a 330 by standing on it.....learned something today....
Muskrat Outdoors
Easier to use small pointed beaver stump instead of ground. Don’t step on trap , use your arms
@@williamlaws2353 I'll try it. Sometimes I forget my setters!
Is that weather today? Kind of early even for there ain't it? OK "end of January 2018" not September 2018!
This will be my tenth season trapping so I know the hard work and dedication that goes into a line. You mentioned in the intro that the number of trappers is growing. With there being more and more trappers do you think there might be a chance of over trapping in your area? That is a concern I have down here in the States that people are trapping and not allowing the beaver, mink and wolverine to replenish themselves in certain areas.
It is different here in Canada. My registered line in mine alone. I have 144 square miles of public land that I have exclusive rights to trap. Private land is up to the land owner how many trappers are allowed on.
you ever catch a wolf in that setup??also are you keeping the 330 low to the ground or are you propping it up 6inches??
No, wolves don't like steel. The bottom of the trap is about 12" off the ground.
Anyone ever set up a trail camera and observed what the wolverine does, to get a better insight of how to catch em?
Yep, The Alberta Conservation Association and the Alberta Trappers Association have done a ground breaking study with trailcams.
Save on counseling...Great point. Keep the kids off the screens and in the bush
yep
When the new episode?
?
Trapping Inc TV Series is there a 1st episode buddy what's it called
Trapping Inc Season 4 Episode 1
I could u show a remake of your wolverine set
works for lynx as well
Hope that fire didn’t take out there trap line
Not so far
A great trapper knows his animals, and has lots of info about them. This is pretty cool.
trapped a slew of wolverine in fuel drum sets with 330's. an enclosed barrel didn't seem to bother them when they climbed in through the trap in the end of the barrel.
To bad you can’t find trap lines for under 100 grand and anyone that lives the lifestyle gets outbid by a wealthy guy that just wants to build a big cabin in the woods as a getaway. This is a dying art unless we get government reform on the leasing of land
You sure haven't looked very hard then. As far as the wealthy cabin owners go that is mostly an urban legend.
