Also anyone else realize this takes places directly before the pilot when James has his accident? It makes me wonder if EDWARD was somehow responsible for it, in an attempt to keep the truth from Thomas.
@@thecrossoverfanatic1339 I took me a while but it clicked, from what you're saying, Edward plotted with the trucks to make James a runaway and therefore he wouldn't tell Thomas.

I Have a Theory, Edward doesn't want anyone to tell Thomas about what happened to his brother that came here from the place that he and Thomas worked at before, that (based on what i can piece together) the old maron viaduct collapsed and took the original Sudrian E2 tank with it, which would why Marklin seemed so surprised to see an LBSCR E2 when Thomas first arrived and why Marklin acts as they do.

I’m assuming “that train” James had was the one where he had his accident thus why he never had the time to tell Thomas. Do you think somebody sabotaged him so he could have his accident and not tell Thomas?
So this explains why jamie is at least a little nuts. Very interesting background to things relating to the deceased e2 revealed here (also new Thomas faces :0 )

I swear I get more and more absorbed in the lore and history of your series every time you post something new! Granted the ending sort of tells us that James never really even got the chance to tell Thomas about 106 before his runaway, which makes me wonder if he’ll ever find out, that and what James comment about “Another drowning” meant.
I think 106 is the one who drowned.
After this, the next day, James's crash occurs before he can tell Thomas, with James getting his massive braincell loss, I think that's how it plays out

I loved this quite a lot, from the stupidity of the trucks to the lore. It's nice to see how James was before his accident. He clearly got hit in the head between this and the current TTOS timeline.
Also loved the lore drop, always a fan of those! Keep up the great work!

Missed it on first watch but TFC said James was doing maintenance at Maron, aka New Maron, so was nearby when Thomas came careening into Old Maron.
Rewatching this and is James and Edward talking about Thomas' brother, 106?
106 (his name is jack maybe) was on sodor, you can see him here 6:18 and 6:54.

And The fat controller replaced 106 with Thomas, that's why in Short 2 of TTOS Insightful Examination, Marklin is confused seeing Thomas. (Since Jack and Thomas look the same)

Thomas didn’t know 106 died in a drowning accident on Sodor, that’s why James said “I thought we were gonna have another drowning.” under his breath.

Tbh I feel like the original tank engine that was on sodor was the first E2 tank engine ever built which was numbered 106 and after the relocation of Maron had ended and before the viaduct was built the tank engine had a nasty accident I maybe resulted in its demise(scrapped) and because the railway wanted to ig save face the fat director bought Thomas to replace the original tank engine aka Thomas’s brother who he didn’t know about therefore when Thomas arrived the other engines besides Edward was less than happy to see him and marklin well more or less confused

So from the other shorts the information we can get is marklin was good friends with 106 and his personality got a lot darker after 106 crashed off the unfinished hawin ab viaduct crashing and drowning in the water
