    Ive just recently started fly fishing , been having a lot of luck with a top hat with a white bit of foam on the top . Was using black adlers at the start and caught 1 maybe 2 fish each time , since using that top hat ive been catching 4+ every time , love the videos bro

    Many thanks for this. Will be down in Bangor early summer to visit family. Now I can bring a few flies rather than my several boxes.
    Any nice rivers you would recommend for fly fishing.
    Not so much into captive fisheries. Loch or river is always a favourite 🙏

    Always enjoy your films Rhys.Would appreciate some info on the tippet match to the outfit.I always use the strongest for diameter I can especially with Fluorocarbon.

      @RhysFishes  Před 11 měsíci

      Thanks shotaway, I’ve also watched a few of yours and enjoy them. Leader wise, I rarely deviate from Celtic blob company fluorocarbon these days. Sometimes Rio also but it’s expensive. Cbc 5.5 or 4.4 for dries. 6.6 for buzzers or nymphs

    Best tip for drying dry fly kitchen roll works brilliant

    • @RhysFishes
      @RhysFishes  Před 11 měsíci +1

      It does indeed and works out far cheaper than an amadou patch. Don’t forget about an elastic band whilst your there

    • @alandoyle3426
      @alandoyle3426 Před 11 měsíci

      Sily question what do you mean about elastic band mate

    • @RhysFishes
      @RhysFishes  Před 11 měsíci +1

      @@alandoyle3426 attatch one end of the elastic band to vest (usually via the d ring). Pull the other side to create tension. Attach the fly via the barb and flick the elastic as if it were a guitar string. The tension and movement causes the fly to be shook of all the existing moisture that’s on there.

    Top video! Thanks for doing that. Tomorrow we will have our last competition day. Today they will bring new fish (300 kg). The old ones are quite deep for the moment. I supppose the new fish will also go lower with these temperatures? Tommorow 25°C and no wind at all. What would be your approach? The lake is at some points 6 to 10 meter deep. DI5 with a snake? or??? Thanks in advance for your advice. Stijn from Belgium (You already adviced me and it worked :)).

      Worth trying carp or bass at this time of year. Some excellent sport to be had the these fish aren’t as affected by water tempratures

    Hi Rhys could you please do a video of the tying of the foam Daddy please

  • @lentrim5444
    @lentrim5444 Před 11 měsíci +1

    Great video. Very informative. Shows I am on the right track but must go smaller. All my Yellow Owls are 12/14. I find that if I tie smaller they often lie on their side. Which hook do you use?

    • @RhysFishes
      @RhysFishes  Před 11 měsíci +1

      That sounds like a combination of 2 things. A hook that holds a light wire paired with an overdressed fly. I tend to favour wet fly hooks for my dry fly fishing (medium wire) for that exact reason. A medium wire hook will help the fly sit in the film as oppose to on it. Hannak 230 bl is a solid choice.
