    I've seen someone else just splice into a switched 12v power and ground wire but how they wired that into the USB A female was not clear. This power adapter with wiring connectors is exactly what I needed to find.

      Technically the USB is just a hot and a ground, you just need to make sure they are right so you don't fry whatever you are putting in. This little adapter if you look closely is basically just splicing into the red and black with a connector. Something like this would work also if you are tapping into the key on, you don't have to worry about + or - that way. amzn.to/3Sd0m6B and then use amzn.to/4bcz4G8 or similar to tap into the line. There are some that are solid colors, if you have done it several times, but this one is clear, just slide over the wire, close the cap, slide in your new wire and close the cap, don't even need to cut anything. Thanks for watching, hope that helps.

    Brilliant video and explanation!! You are absolutely right about needing some small fingers to get that middle piece. It took me a while, but worked like a charm!! Thanks for the vid!!

    Does your rearview mirror have compass? I was messing with mine and now not sure if it had one or not.

    Does this affect the auto dimming mirror?

    • @RagerJackOfAll
      @RagerJackOfAll  Před 7 měsíci +2

      It did not on mine. Basically all you are doing is tapping into the exiting wiring. It is tapping a constant power going to the head unit and a ground to make a "usb charger" in essence. The harness just makes it easier than cutting the wires and splicing.

    So I have a big horn and don’t have a dimming mirror. But the wiring and everything is there, with no power to it. Any luck? Is there a fuse for the dimmming mirror I could use to make the wiring live?

    • @RagerJackOfAll
      @RagerJackOfAll  Před 4 měsíci

      Sorry for the delay, I just traded mine for a Big Horn a couple of months ago. czcams.com/video/-g_VFYc6DGQ/video.html How I did mine, as long as your wiring harness is the same, you should be able to "Hot wire" it off of the console up top. The hole I drilled is optional, you can snake your wire up through, but made it easier for me. Thanks and sorry for the delay getting back.

    Great video .What brand of dash cam is that?

      That one is Nextbase 222. Had it for over a year. Only issue I have is I'm bad about leaving it hang in the summer (Myrtle Beach), gets well up in the 100's inside in the sun while setting. Tends to overheat, but put it in front of the vent keeps on ticking. lol I think the 622 has wifi and a rear facing camera but also about 400.00 vs 100.00. Thanks for watching and dropping a comment.

      Thanks. I’m in the central valley in California. Triple digits are guaranteed in the summer months so I’ll keep that in mind.

    • @RagerJackOfAll
      @RagerJackOfAll  Před 10 měsíci +1

      @@macmc7712 The best part about the Nextbase is it is a magnetic contact, so basically all you have to do is pull it off. No wires to disconnect or anything which should make it easier to remember to take it down.... should... lol

      @macmc7712 Před 10 měsíci

      I noticed in your video which prompted the inquiry. Do you know if extra bases are available? I’d like to be able to switch vehicles without purchasing a separate camera.

    • @RagerJackOfAll
      @RagerJackOfAll  Před 10 měsíci

      @@macmc7712 nextbase.com/accessories/clickgo-pro-mount/ It says "Go Pro" mount but think its just bad wording, its a click and go "pro" mount. lol That one sticks to the glass, much better than the suction cup mounts, the heat just destroys those, regardless of brand.
