I worked on the RL10 rocket engine at Pratt & Whitney in W. Palm Beach, Forida in 1962-63. I am not surprised that the RL10 has been in continued use since then, albeit with numerous upgrades. It is still the reliable engine it was long ago.
Still waiting for the roar of those engines……
You missed it.

Good thing we can listen to perfectly intelligible launch control audio and highfreq whine while we wait for those rockets to roar...
I,ve never used a strap on, but I,ve heard they quite popular, mainly with government personal.
Loudest sound I heard was the rumbling of my stomach waiting for dinner while I watched the video....
Never heard the side boosters referred to as "strap ons." Could have had a drinking game with the number of times he said strap on LOL
Is that the same as a Strapacocktome.
Agreed. There's a joke in there somewhere 😄
LOL, I had a good laugh when I heard that "term".
that term is absolutely reserved for bad girls and should be retired from use elsewhere
I wonder who Pegged the term?
Never heard rockets with silencers on them, all burn no roar
Truly an end of a historic era.
Godspeed to the Delta dynasty of rockets!
Could have Delta for 40 more years but one guy decided the"health status is questionable" that's pretty evil. So 40/ on diff rocketry plan away from this Limiter Pretender.
Enjoyed watching the Heavy launch from the beach an hour ago. I have been spoiled this week with 3 launches. Proud to be an American!
What I love about the process is no jealousy, no politics. Team effort is beyond. Wish it was like this in all professional settings.
I think he got carried away with the phrase "strap on"😂
Strap ons in space.! I feel a movie coming on.
Wonder if they show the parallel world and the hidden one behind the tough task. Even when they took all her resources to limit her, God helped her by no even needing them. It was like magic.
Even after all these years I never get tired of watching a space launch.
SpaceX has spoiled us all with the quality of the images from Falcon 9, Heavy and Starship..........
I used to work Iin space operations during the days of the Space Shuttle and the Delta series.
It was months/years between launches, and now Space X has already put up I think 35 launches this YEAR alone!
I HAVE TO GIVE SPACEX CREDIT, THEY KNOW HOW TO KEEP LAUNCHING IN RAPID SUCCESSION.
And filming it properly.
Also spoiled us by repeatedly blowing up starship. 😂😂😂 I know, I know... not the same thing.
I'm glad you appreciate them. It's fascinating. Now imagine Stargate.
@@OSS1956the difference is that the boosters are reusable now. So not like every other previous Saturn 5 and then space shuttles. So it helps launch more if you can use the same booster more than once and you don’t have to build one every time too. There’s not a lot of maintenance that you have to do to get it going again.
Wow!!! Such a beautiful sight! Farewell, Delta 4!
"We have strapon separation" sounds hilarious. With the boosters falling back into the ocean, I felt like I was watching a horse-and-buggy ride.
Grew up watching the launches from the Delta pads .. good job and happy retirement.
Never retiring. Made to know, she is capable till 80/full speed.
So smooth, nicely done, adieu Delta IV
There is nothing better than the roar of those engines. One of my favorite part. I admire the 2nd party play by play callout but id love an isolated track of that plasmic, thunderous roar. More crackle please
Why no launch sound? Pretty much ruined the moment.
Those RL-10s did their job this AM. Way to go ULA for a great rocket we got to say "goodbye" to today!
She rises again where appreciated.
New invader can come they have no clue, effort of Perseverance on Mars, who created the pillars of creation, who makes supersonic flight,
They just have a big head thinking they are in control, but they are TRULY clueless.
Beautiful and good work done ❤
How many space x star link satellites are in orbit now and how many are there planned to put in orbit.
wow. Those engines are 'whisper' quiet. Very impressive. When does the 1st stage land? Asking for a friend
Congratulations to a very talented team.
Bruno rocking the Dr Phil look
So proud of you All.
A little cloudy in Wildwood but holding out hope that I'll get a glimpse of the launch
Seeeeeend it!!!!
It looked like i saw fire above the engines iv never seen that before.
Push the button brah
Animation? What is this...1970?
Where is the Walter Cronkite voice over?
😄😄😄
Worked on the Shuttle PGOC and never heard of boosters referred to as “strap ons” LOL
Got the "LIVE" notification at t+ something.. thanks CZcams 😠
What! they all fell back into the Ocean, amazing all that money.
That has to be the QUIETEST rocket launch I have ever heard.
Even my old Estes model rockets made more noise than that.
Strap-ons?!😂
🐈💨
I was dying laughing, he said it 6 times in less than 45 sec. Just call them port and starboard boosters or just boosters. LOL
The rocket 🚀 looks like is giving the middle finger 🖕🏼 going up 😂
Wish I could hear the liftoff.
"let's hear the roar of those boosters".......silence
Do we know what direction Heavy is going.
Who's on the radio? Norman Collier? 😂
Would like to have heard the roar of the booster engines after liftoff.
Bon voyage
Water is morning fast also
Don't they land the boosters? Like space x.
Nah, only spacex lands their orbital boosters. Jeff bezos' company 'blue origin' also landed suborbital rockets. As far as I'm aware, NASA has never landed a booster.
Julian and Jayden from South Carolina
So 2024, and the audio as they’re talking about status, is clipped, hard to understand, very similar to the late sixties and seventies. Why is that???
And why is the commentator absolutely pinching his nose when he’s talking as well?
Sorry but that doesn’t make sense.
Who doesn't love to see a "muscle car" fly?
А наша Ангара 5 сегодня не полетеоа, отложен пуск на сутки. Завтра надеюсь взлетит
Куда она родная денется то, наоборот хорошо что автоматика работает
Someone forgot to turn the engine mic on
Beautiful launch and view from space. Still, guys - "Strap-ons?" Come on. More than one meaning, there. Good luck with your space program.
He said it 6 times in less than 45 seconds. Freudian slip? Anticipation of his after work activities? LOL
Why end delta rockets?
Space X changed space travel.
bye bye delta IV HEAVY RIP O7
They are cool but do not sound like the Falcon 9 taking off.
I have been in Kennedy space center mouch rockets to lift off here wondering what energy they use to fill in tank in rockets maybe someone know my question here must say Bravissimo ☆☆☆☆☆
Launch at 1:28:50
Windy day there
This will probably get delayed again
Offer NASA's experts their service to that high technology way to space?
I cant believe the people accept this as real. Youd think for 60 million a day budget the CGI would be better.
Where does all that junk go? Are the boosters reusable?
1:28:50
So all of these just crash down in the ocean or burn up. Now I see why they don't do these anymore.
That end was brown nosing
But balloons can fly under these satellites across the United States without being destroyed.
What was that flying at 1:33:44 ????
White light shot across ???
The main stream media is so focused on other non important issues they do not even cover these really important milestones. Oh! is something catastrophic happens they will cover that for about a day.
Wasn't there supposed to be a heavy Russian launch today? Think it was scrubbed.
🚀🚀🚀🚀🇺🇸🙌🙏🏻
Nice 😊
No sound
-10s to launch 1:28:49
Apparently the coms are "good enough for government work"
No sound of engines
Sorry but no sound of the rocket lost me.
After watching the launch of Delta 4 rockets I can now see why this type of launch vehicle rocket 🚀 is being retired. The design of the rocket housing for “strap on” boosters are far too small and do not protect the strapon boosters from the flames of starting the booster rockets. CEO Bruno might learn something about wind currents by adding highly pressurized fans in the launch pad area underneath the booster rocket housing, thus causing the flow of air to flow out underneath the boosters. I really don’t understand why you would ignite the rocket fuel before the engine starts. I feel that a bigger rocket housing and the proper ventilation system for the rocket propellent to flow in the proper direction, away from the strapon boosters might resolve this issue. Because what can happen during a launch will happen eventually and don’t understand how a CEO can justify having marshmallowed rocket boosters is considered a safe viable option for future launches. Perhaps teaching your rocket scientists about fire currents and managing proper airflow of strapon boosters can easily resolve this situation from future launches. However, since this is the last of their future missions for this rocket design then I am glad that this project design has reached its EOL.
The name Delta is the same thing as 4. You do not need to say 4.
This rocket always takes forever to launch 🚀. Agree SpaceX has spoiled us with on time launches 🚀. This thing cost $350,000,000 to the taxpayers, just to launch one time, one payload. Hope Vulcan can do a better job, than previous rockets. 🚀
Let's listen to the roar.
Then again let's not.
I would name 20 NON HorsROKeT FLIGHT (NOR) launch...
Well that’s a waste of my time watching this. The commentator said let’s listen to the roar and then he tripped over the power cord or something because THERE was NO ROAR!!! You had one job and this was to be of historic significance and you blew it
Perhaps a more reusable solution is appropriate...
This old rascal must have cobwebs. Hope it holds together and blows up a no telling how expensive spy satellite. I wish they would publish the cost of this thing less the satellite. Might be millions X10.
I am greet author as acebreaker in silence getting by good natured partners the foriener ones as well.
Strap ons...I'm dying. Does Bill Clinton own part of this company?
Ìt amazes me that ULA ..Boeing ever gets anything off the ground. GO SPACEX
Reply Elon Musk I will be watching! Go SpaceX💕💙💕✨️✨️🚀✨️✨️💕💙💕💕🤗💕💕✨️🚀✨️✨️😊
SERAJUL ISLAM.
Is there a feed of this without the babbling
What has happened to space flight coverage? It's either WHOOPING, or just no sound at all. It's total garbage.
It's like watching a steam engine on mute.
What a piss poor launch coverage!
Starship has replaced this already.
It’s a good thing to see the end of this expensive and horrible way to space.
From South Carolina
And now to see from the edge only that is horrible expensive way to space.
Starship isn't operational yet. That said, Falcon Heavy has greater LEO and Geosync orbit capacity and can do it for less cost unless flight requirements need the FH to be launched in totally expendable mode.
FH vs Vulcan-Centaur, VC needs 6 SRBs to have a capacity similar to FH according to ULA's figures.
@@robertf3479 Wow! I can not belive in it !
@@robertf3479 It is way to make america great again !
Fake cgi
This offer us the worst possible view of this last launch, what a rip-off! Thumbs down forever and ever!
an end to a costly hunk of crap. never tried to improve upon and now being destroyed by space x.
LOL "Now lets listen to the roar of the Enghines" All i hear was some Lame Nerd and his Skippy narration!
