if you think about it, Frank really allowed that mate in 1 in the first game just to taunt Cdawg and beat him mercilessly giving him a slower death. Truly the greatest GM ever to be
Out of all Pogchamps 5 matches I've watched... This is the most entertaining! For the players to spot brilliant tactics is impressive. Of course, it is a 1200 quality game, but at least it is less painful too watch compared to the 300-400 rating matches.
@@MasterInHD ehhh, nah not that bad. 1200 is when fundamentals are getting strong, id say it is a toss up(online) with 100-800. By 800-1000 fundamentals and not blundering(or excessive inaccuracy & misses) starts to actually really matter. 1200 is what id consider the “intermediate” milestone, of course theres ways to superficially be 1200 online. I only really think it counts if they have lots of games played, and not against the same few people.
@@fintan9218 as a 2100, I promise you there isn’t any difference between a 1200 and a 400. You start seing the difference after 1200 more and more. Like a 1300 vs. a 1400 is a lot different then a 1000 vs. a 1100. Is hard to explain
he did do better than the online stage where he could express himself loudly, cause the group stage wasn't close, but the over the board games felt closer
This is honestly the best he has played all tournament so I don't think it would have mattered. He seemed to have better intuition than Connor but lacked the calculation skills to execute his ideas and Connor was a lot more consistent overall which is what wins games more often than not at this level.
Frank only lost because it was irl so he didn't get to do his live commentary "and he takes and we take, ooh but he's got this, this is not lookinng tasty guys!"
They shouldn't do otb for the next one. It makes the event fancier and adds some gravitas but players get too shy and polite face to face and can't talk their usual shit! Frank did great for a 16 yo but you could tell he was nervous to be there. Also just doesn't make sense to me when pretty much all the participants only ever play online chess and all the other games in the event were online. Thats like the NFL adding an extra 20 yards to the field for the Super Bowl.
In my opinion something was lost going to over the board. Frank screaming at the camera was by far the most interesting part, they are steamers... they should be streaming
Yea, I think they realized having an OTB finale was not great idea after it was all set in place. The idea was ok though, wanted to give them the true GM experience.
It depends on the opinion, mine is that it was interesting to see them have this kind of experience. It's a funny concept, and it's more original than having them play in the normal online format. In the long term, it's probably better to watch them play online though.
it's two 1000's playing rapid under immense pressure of knowing thousands are watching. it was painful but at least it was very entertaining and for literal amateurs i think the games were somewhat decent. this was a much better pain than some games from the recent nepo-liren WC match tbh
I know its 1000 elo game and there is a lot of pressure, but one of the things about playing chess well is about being able to play well under pressure, what i saw in this game included some critical moves being played with no calculation and a lot of time on the clock, i think that if you can’t focus on the game so much that you can’t see one move ahead in a decent amount of time then you should start learning how to focus your mind entirely on the chess, without thinking about the surrounding environment, as this is crucial to playing otb, and if you want to play otb then you should only learn basic opening principles (until you reach a higher level) and start focusing on learning to focus instead of learning a bunch of openings that you will forget because of a lack of focus.
Game 3 Bishop h6 must be the greatest PogChamps Comeback ever.. what a High risk high reward move! a worthy final
I still cant believe Frank took that bishop…
The move Bh6 did nothing but the blunder was the biggest part
He explained afterwards that he heard the commentators scream so it confused him... kinda messed up that they could hear them@@fintan9218
Levy getting the full Hikaru experience watching his student throw so hard
Nah xqc losing to moist critical was so much worse, but i still can't believe frank took that obviously poison bishop
@@fintan9218that's why on board games are a different breed than online.

this buffoon even can't open his elo stage in any fide rules tournament. he will be destroyed by kids with no elo
Then loose the whole tournament ..lol

1200 quality is very generous lol.
1200 and 400 is basically the same anyways lol

there's different pressure between finding good moves on real board chess and online chess...finding Bh6 is an insane discovery on the real board...!!
It’s not a good move though?
i didn't say the move Bh6 is good move, i just said it was an insane discovery on the real chess board
@@vipperson4938it was a bait move and on board you have to carefully see them especially with clock on your head

Frank where is your gm title
6:50 This sequence is too funny 😂 (and I'm playing at 1100 lol)

i love connor
7:50 most average 1000 elo players lol
Congrats to Connor! Good job on beating a kid up.
If xqc actually showed up for his match it would be xqc vs conner
Tell 'Frank' to keep his fingers out of his mouth, its disgusting while touching chess pieces
I was wondering if he will do some Jojo one liners
Is that Alexandra Botez commentating? 2.5 to 1???
