- This is commonly asked question by all physiotherapist or to be physiotherapists.
And to answer this I will tell YES you can use Dr. prefix but at the same time you also should write (PT) after your name to avoid any confusions.

@@adilshaikh5298no they shouldn't , working hard doesn't mean that you can use it, nurses work way harder and in emergency situations , but can they use dr prefix ahead of their name , can an mpt graduated pt handle emergency services of a hospital, make critical decisions that directly involve pateint care ,NO !!!!!!
Although rehabilitative care is a very necessary and demanding field , I have respect for all physios , but for this prefix doesn't incline with the general notion .And you have just joined mbbs that never gives you the right to comment on this issue without knowing what mbbs is about , once you know it you won't comment in this way ,

Pharmacist, anaesthesia technisian, radiologist, operation tgeatre technician, ecg technisian every want to call themselves doctor.
Radiologist is the real doctor
Radiology has technicians. But a radiologist is very much a doctor and a much sought post graduate field in medicine

I’m not hurting your emotions, but I wanna ask, do you guys perform surgery? Do you guys do nasogastric feeding? Do you guys do catherization? Do you guys do inbutation? Answer ma’am, do you guys suture?. I am a dentist and an aspiring surgeon but yes they teach us all of this. That’s the reason why every country accepted us as doctors, I had one friend of mine who almost got license cancelled because she used Dr prefix and she is a physiotherapist. I know you guys are doing electrotherapy and psychological counselling and many many stuffs and I know physiotherapists can do wonders but govt of India, Supreme Court and IMA very clearly told that ppl having degrees like MBBS, BDS, BAMS, homeopathy, veterinary can use the prefix and nurses, physiotherapists, OT technology personals, respiratory therapist, speech therapists are not allowed to put dr as prefix, it’s against the law, I’m telling from the experience of my friend.
@@mridulak3122 all medical things including surgery we r studying mam.mam we are studying all things physiology ,anatomy whole bunch medical physiotherapy,psychology pathology micro biology like that's 5 years we r studying bunch of things as other doctors r studying

A simple question, if u guys are 'dr' can you manage code blue? Do you guys do procedures under both local and general anaesthesia? MBBS, BDS, veterinary etc do procedures under both local and general anaesthesia. I can go on.... I have respect for physios as same as I respect my fellow nurses, but when any emergency comes all you guys do is stand and watch... It has happened in my college...

@@nikhilverma6528handling emergency cases is not the definition of doctor title.....it's one of the role MS MD doctors can only do.... however even a dentist can't handle emergency cases in hospital just for example so that doesn't mean they are not entitled to the prefix..
Doctor prefix has different definition, and with that aspect if you try to understand why physios are using the title.

No they can' t use it constitutionally, illegally they can do whatever they want
constitutionally even MBBS cant use it, only PhD holders are allowed to use.

@physiotrendz .. one is doctor degree(Dr) and PhD is doctorate degree (DR) ... Dr is given by council like medical council,pharmacy council , non allopathic council , nursing council.... phD is given by University. ...I think physiotherapy doesn't have a council .
Please note association is different.. it can be made by any one under act
