You forgot to mention that the entire design and this G wagon project were recommended and funded by the Shah of Iran. This was his idea for his army vehicles.

There is an association between the Mercedes G-Class and the Shah of Iran dating back to the late 1970s when the Shah expressed interest in acquiring a fleet of off-road vehicles for the Iranian military. Mercedes-Benz, in collaboration with Austrian company Steyr-Daimler-Puch, developed the vehicle that would become the G-Class to meet the Shah’s requirements. The initial purpose was to create a rugged and capable military vehicle suitable for various terrains.
After the Islamic Revolution in Iran in 1979, the order for the military vehicles was canceled, but Mercedes-Benz continued to produce the G-Class for civilian and military markets worldwide. Despite the cancellation of the initial order, the connection between the G-Class and the Shah of Iran remains a part of the vehicle’s history.

I’m guessing that the door gap is exactly where they want them based on the potential chassis flexing if somebody takes the G-Wagon to its extreme off-roading capabilities at their maximum potential.🤔 13:33

Another great video. For me the most razonable and logic is the 400d 330 hp, 700Nm or the newest 450d.
    Greetings from Spain.

If money were no object, I would get the G wagon 4x4 squared. Check out TFL and Roman taking it to Moab. Stunning engineering accomplishment.

I once discussed with David that Toyota Group uses Lexus LX/GX and Mercedes-Benz G to compete in the luxury off-road vehicle market. GX550 has been launched. Do you think the product design and performance meet the expectations?

    Hi David,
The G wagon is nice. I have many wealthy friends, and a few of them have the G wagon and they tell me it is not reliable and dependable vehicle. And my friends told me that the ride is very stiff and sports car like anyway, from what I’ve heard from people that own them as far as fit and finish as far as dependability and reliability. As far as luxury and comfort I will take the LX 570 fully loaded over the G wagon any day of the week… that’s just my opinion🇯🇵🤍❤️ as far as I’m concerned, anything built by the Tumi craftsman, are the best vehicles in the world…

There's so many of these in the DFW (TX) area mostly driven by soccer moms! Boxy and not really a looker, imo.

I'd buy the Lexus LX 570 (or even the newer 600) over the G- Wagon. It sounds good, pulls like a freight train.. but the ride is way too stiff and the interior is way too small unless you're a hobbit!
