Ahoy, mates! I cannot believe this is the THIRD time I am moving into a new room in college, which signifies THREE years of me being in Cambridge (and already 2 months since I moved into this room) 🤯 My dear friend, Nivi, drove me to college and stayed the night with me to help me unpack my stuff and set up my new room - so grateful for her 💛 This was also the first time we got to see our new rooms, kitchen and bathrooms in person - definitely the most luxurious out of all the college corridors I've stayed in! Enjoy our live reactions 😂
Over time, I've realised that moving in earlier than everyone else makes a massive difference to me. This time I moved in early since I was facilitating International Freshers Week, but still really appreciated having my own time and space to settle in. Moving rooms always feels like a big change, and I need some alone time to process big changes.
I was very lucky this year to have so many helping hands for moving my belongings into my room. Since I am an international student, College offers the facility to store most of my belongings in a container on-site over the Summer break. Unfortunately, I didn't have access to my summer storage belongings when Nivi was around, which contained all of my bedding and warm jumpers. It was freeeeezing in my room for the first night with no duvet, jumpers or heating - not ideal after a long heavy-lifting day. Thankfully I managed to arrange the collection of my boxes the next day and had warm nights thereafter 😇
This was the first year where I've had such a big room - there's a wall in between my 'living room' and bedroom. While I love it so much now, I found it so big and a little scary during the initial few days - especially since I was alone on my room and my corridor. I decided to prioritise setting up my little altar before unpacking all of the other boxes - invoking the divine presence into my room made me feel so at-peace and safe 🥰

Watching this reminded me of your video of moving to Cambridge during the pandemic for first year and it got me emotional too 😅 Time just flies! It honestly feels like that video was just yesterday and now you're in third year!!

When I first came across your channel I remember your video about moving in and having to carry all your stuff up the stairs on your own 😬 Felt so bad for you moving to a new country and being faced with that and then a deserted college with the heating off. Looks so much more fun getting settled in with people to help.
Great that you were there to support the international freshers. I am like you with preferring to arrive early and get unpacked before everything gets crazy when everyone else arrives.
Hopefully the term is going well in your expanded third-year accommodation. The refurbished or new rooms you showed us look a bit more comfortable and nice than the standard draughty Victorian buildings of the kind I spent many dark winters in at school 😨

Definitely, the refurbished rooms are more comfortable but still retain the Victorian charm without as many inconveniences 😊

Saw this video with appa last evening, a bit of mixed emotions for me , one way I am happy you don’t have to go thru this shifting every year , though of course we understand you will miss Girton !! ( you even started liking the smell of Girton surprises me 😁)
