    This is the NUX Cerberus multi-function guitar pedal. This is the NUX top-of-the-line multi-effects pedal and controller.

    The boost, overdrive, and distortion are all analog. The modulation, delay, and reverb are digital. You can swap the paths of the effects as well as store patches using multiple effects at once etc. It does everything. It's quite a complicated pedal but the NUX Cerberus is a total beast functionality-wise.

    I've been using this for more than a year and it's been my most reliable piece of effects on a live setup. I have a full analog pedal board too but I think a lot of people who have have some live performance snafus on those. This is integrated and consistent. No complaints.
    The only thing this misses for my preferred guitar tone is a compressor and wah. You can get some compression from the od, but the attack is not as consistent as using a stans alone dyna comp (or the like). So for now, I just use a wah and compressor attached to the cerberus in serial (before the OD) and given the 9v power (which is a bloody masterstroke), everything works with my usual 1-spot!
    Great review. And I highly recommend too!

    Thank you! Mine arrived this morning. An "old guys" dream!

    Dude this is the best multi-integrated-effects, I used it to play live all the time, just plug it in to the front house of the bar I work at, and it sounds a-freaking-mazing, and it's the easiest pedal ever, there are just 4 stompboxes and the overdrive and distortion are Analog, they're based on the Morning Glory and Angry Charlie, or maybe clones, the Impulse response loader it's amazing, I bought some Celestion Pro I.R.'s and this thing sound better than a mic'd amp, (in almost all cases), only downside for my it's that it doesn't have any control for the clean sound, so I depende on my I.R and mixer eq to make it sound good, then workaround the eq and volume of the OD and DIST, overall it's amazing, and it sounds incredible in front of a fender type amp, 100% recommendation!!!!

    @scott1887 Před 5 lety +2

    I found the comment about being hard to use is both a yes - and no. Yes, if you want to create individual patches (that you can put in edit mode and modify on the fly) - that is a bit tricky to get the hang of, but once you understand how it works, its not too bad. But, if you use it like I do, which is like individual pedals, then it is super easy. Just turn the knobs where you want them and then hit the foot switches to turn on and off. Easy! I also run a fuzz (Barber Trifecta) and a Mini Dunlop Wah in front - and I am good to go! Bottom line is that if you go the easy route, then I would highly recommend it.

I think you learned me a few things, but I still need to dig into the documentation to really get what I need to know. The rest in terms of tones and sounds is pretty convicing I agree. Thanks again! It's a great grab 'n go, very handy if you need to DI.
    The overdrive is kinda "meh", and the MIDI isn't "full MIDI implementation" as advertised but the rest is A-OK, considering the price. I still use my own vibe, and a flanger in front of a couple of Overdrive pedals and a Fuzz, before the signal gets to the NU>X. But it's fine on its own.
    If you're going to DI with this, a preamp type pedal in the loop is necessary. But the IR cab sims are pretty darn good!

  • @chedu77
    @chedu77 Před 5 lety +7

    It would be nice a 2nd video more focused on going direct (IR loading, etc). The one thing I wonder about this unit, because I've not seen in any review is how will it sound with a preamp/amp in a box type of pedal in its own loop, after the OD/dist/boost section, especially for clean (-ish) sounds, since it has no amp modeling per se. Maybe you can check it with your american sound pedal if you still have it laying around. Something like that could add a wide array of tonal options to the unit and won't break the bank

    Most Multi-Effect pedals, including POD HDX Helix, Fractal, etc have some drop out.
    A couple of milliseconds is no big deal.
    The thing about this pedal is it has no expression pedal, so 2 unique settings in one channel would not be possible.
    2 settings meaning, pedal forward, lead pedal back rhythm .
    Or pedal back gain rhythm
    Pedal forward clean with a touch of overdrive for rhythm

    Awesome intro man! I have a couple of NUX “Core” multi effects pedals and have been very happy with them for the $. At home, all-in-one units are fun to knock around with. I’m not a performing musician at all, but if I were, I totally agree with your comment that you would need to spend time setting this up for the tones you like, then lock it down. I couldn’t imagine fiddling around with it between songs on stage, especially the modulation effects, which is probably easier to do with a bunch of single pedals on a board. My only other thought from an “if I were on stage with this” is that it’s physical appearance is dark, the lights are all the same color (which is a cost thing I’m sure) and the labeling is also a dark color, which I think would be hard to see in a dark performance setting. How cool would iridescent ink colors and matching lights be?? 😎🤙🏻🎸

      There's no point giving the price everyone lives in different areas of the world and will have different exchange rates and the rates vary every single day. If you check the links I post in every video description you can see how it works out in your currency at that point in time. Listing the price doesn't work well if in a year it changes etc. Hope this helps clear that up mate. :-)

    Wich one you preferd, The Nux Cerberus or Red Truck from mooer?

  • @bohs1984
    @bohs1984 Před 5 lety +1

    Ok, purchased and returned for the following reasons. First off, no matter how I adjusted it, the headphone sound was distorted and clipped. Why even bother to have a headphone jack if you cannot get it to sound like anything other than a wet fart? Second, NOWHERE in the advertising for this unit did I see where the power supply is "sold separately". UGHHH, Really? Come on guys. Ok, it does sound pretty rad through my amp. I think the best way to dial in the sounds you want is to connect it to your computer and treat each effect like it is a real pedal in front of you. Then just store the sounds for your gig. NO issue there. But I guess it really comes down to this. This unit is $300 new and add another $10-15 for the power supply. For the price you are only $200 away from getting the Boss GT-100. What do you get for your extra $200? Only about 50 more effects, including a built in expression pedal. A headphone output that doesn't clip. Basically, EVERYTHING this unit does plus 500% more. That's my assessment for what its worth. Pedal sounds good but just not enough there compared to what you could be getting for about the same price.

    I use my mine when the gig calls for direct out / no amp on stage w/ in-ear monitors. A compressor would be nice but my biggest complaint is that there are no online patch resources for the Cerberus as there are for the Helix and Kemper.

      it really isnt that complex if you want to treat it as 4 pedals in live mode. most of the tricks are with presets and cabling options.
      if you go live mode, set each pedal how you want and stomp away like you would normally.

    For $299.00 that would be worth spending a weekend with. It might not eliminate a large pedal board but it would make a great fly rig or jam rig.

  • @peterschmidt9942
    @peterschmidt9942 Před 5 lety +2

    Demo sounds good and I think the pedals been pretty well thought out with it's connections. But when you start getting up into this sort of price range, you're up in the modelling territory with way more features for about the same dollars (or even a bit less). Heck, you could buy a whole new amp for those sort of dollars. Damn, I've got guitars for less! One thing it has going for it is it's definitely simpler to use than a modeller and smaller than separate pedals. Good if you don't own any pedals.
    BTW Nice bit of Creedence in there and loved the smoke coming out the guitar towards the end!

      I forgot to mention that. There's so much you can do. I think you can hook it up to a computer and load IR's and stuff into it as well. It's a very complex pedal but loads of options in there for the right person.

    • @glenby2u
      @glenby2u Před 5 lety +1

      the usb is the IR loader and there is a very alpha version of what could be an editor. it isnt and I have been waiting since it came out for the software to develop. You can also do firmware updates and view midi assignments.

    • @mattgilbert7347
      @mattgilbert7347 Před 5 lety

      Yeah it's for use with the editor and also firmware upgrades. I'm in contact with NU>X as I have a few issues with the MIDI and have suggested a "fix" so that the exp/volume pedal input can be utilized as an external tap-in. Apparently, it can be done but they haven't sorted that upgrade out just yet.

      @@mattgilbert7347 Good to know.. Some good sounding tones out of that thing. I might be in the market if I cant track down the tone sucker in my pedal board. I don't use much a bit of overdrive and a bit of delay that's about it probably overkill for my needs but... well so what :)
