    This thing is money I use it religiously and let’s say the masses of people are blown away by the versatility this tool offers.
    It has the ability to read measurements and display them in any measurement form you desire... the Stake feature has got to be the coolest thing I find. Check it out in a video if you get the chance.
    My only beef with this tool is that the batteries no matter what kind I use, even the best Duracell on the market, it always eats the batteries even kinda seems too when it’s not in use. Either way this tool is a must for professional people it cuts time of quotes and the fumbling of measuring tapes etc.

And the idea that a litre of water weighs 1kg seems to blown the minds of most people - especially when I'm cooking and I need to add half a litre of water to my bowl so I do it on the scales and add 500grams of water - they think it's like quantum theory or something and are totally confused!

    Question, Do you need to use the target cards always? If for instance you are going from wall to wall on a ladder, wont the beam have to be perfectly level to get an accurate reading?

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  Před 3 lety +3

      Yes, it needs to be level to be accurate. It's similar to using a tape measure, you try to hold the tape level across a room as level as possible or measure on the floor. As far as the target cards go, they aren't necessary. They're for taping to something that doesn't have a surface for the laser to hit. For instance, if you're trying to measure the length of a hallway that takes a right right or left, you would stick this target card at the turn, so it sticks out a couple inches for a spot for the laser dot to measure from. Does my explanation help?

      I believe the middle is if you have is mounted on a tripod. I never use that setting. I mostly use it from the rear as I'm trying to get the total room measurement. The front setting is handy if you're lining the front of the LDM with a line. It's also handy if you're measuring from something like an archway and you can put just the edge of the front of the LDM next to it and still get a laser measurement. Did that help?

      Thanks. I found your demo very useful and informative. I first bought a chinese made (Uni-T) distance meter, I noticed some variance in reading when measuring fixed objects (doorframe, cabinet wall) when I first turned it on, being 3-4mm off then later being within 1mm of my tape measure. I thought it was the lighting at first but it turned out to be the temperature (no kidding) since I noticed it became more accurate after about 3-5 minutes of using it. Swiftly exchanged it with a bosch glm40 and our local bosch service center has offered to replace it with a glm 500 because of an issue with the device.

      It's very easy. When you turn the unit on, I believe it automatically measures from the back of the unit. It also lets you toggle to measure from the front of the center, which is if you put it on a tripod. Just make sure it's measuring from the back and point it to the ceiling. You'll have a measurement in a few seconds.

      I'm not exactly sure from corner to corner, since this is made to sit on a flat surface. You can get a close guess, but not super precise. If you had a 12" ruler, you could use that along with this to get a corner to corner measurement. The ruler will go directly in the corner and just add 12" to the measurement. Hope that helps!
