      As a baker, there’s definitely a reason they’re all round. Square cakes are hard, primarily because of corners, and they’re harder to cut, so people don’t order them as often. However, they are super fun! (To make and to watch)

    I usually cut that one layer of cake into four layers. I mean who eats cake with so little Frosting? Also here most bakers use whipped cream frosting cuz it's light and fluffy. Buttercream frosting is used only for heavier cakes. Like wedding ones.

    • @aliyahahmed7159
      @aliyahahmed7159 Před 2 lety +8

      They apply a crumb coat first! It’s a thin layer of buttercream first and then smooth it out and pop it in the fridge for a little while. This should lock in all the crumbs. After that you just add the rest of the icing as usual and it should be crumb free so it’s more visually appealing and easier to decorate.

    • @stormwright8300
      @stormwright8300 Před 2 lety

      no many people who are bakers start at home making stuff in their own kitchen until they build up a reliable client base. No license needed unless you want to turn it into a real business. If it's just a hobby, there's no real need i don't think

      @@stormwright8300 I’m gonna have to look it up. I thought with selling consumable things, you need to use a commercial kitchen. Don’t know where I heard that or how that got into my head. @@Ask571986 my mom was a cake decorator. she never had a formal business, just a facebook page, but took commissions and never had to get any sort of licensing. i get that it's not quite the same, but you don't have to be licensed to make a casserole for a neighbor - making a cake isn't that much different, even when there's money involved; i think it just flies under the radar. not sure though, only spit-balling

      @holless Před 2 lety +2

      @@Ask571986 yeah np! it's funny, i've never thought of it as at all under the table - i suppose it just depends on where the line is drawn in the law; does a license become necessary when money becomes involved, or only when an official business becomes involved? but same here - as you can possibly tell, i have no real interest in the actual word of the law. i would do no research, get caught for committing crimes i didn't know existed, then get arrested. ideal.
