I've never seen anyone make a mold that way, but that's really smart, and I'm surprised people don't use that method more often.
Agreed, Now to add this method to my tool box.
It’s called a 2 part mold. You see that part where they made the divots with that ball tool? Those are called registers and hey help align the mold properly for casting. It’s a method that uses more casting material but is ideal for 3 dimensional objects (like a ball) or in this case a 2 sided object. Pretty cool stuff.

@@dontyellatmeimsoft886 it can be, if you’re using it willy nilly. Sometimes a 2 part mold is the only way to cast an object. If I were to attempt something like this I probably would have done a 1 part mold front and back for each wing and cast the resin separately, then welded the parts together with resin. But that’s just my take. There may have been a very good reason for doing it this way that I’m not seeing 😁 the two part method takes more time, is more difficult to get a clean cast and takes more material. But the author did a great job in this cast anyway.

This came out so perfect. I love how it looks like a butterfly, consisting of splashing, crystal clear water. It's beautiful and has a kind of motion to it that can be difficult to capture in sculpture, unless you really know what you're doing. I also love how you kept the water under it completely smooth and glass like, that way a reflection of the butterfly is captured in it. You did such a great job, this is very impressive and I thank you for sharing your art with us.

Wow. That's cool. Its simplicity really gives it its beauty. Its not overly complicated or super busy.
ONE SUGGESTION: Can you give it a ripple effect on top of the water where the butterfly has touched it's wing. I guess it will look more awesome.

Exactly what I was going to ask. Or like the butterfly is coming out of a splash, like a snapshot from a high speed camera, when you pur liquid from a certain hight into a glass or something. The last drop (butterfly), that splashes back into air.

Ok, I know I use WOW to much, but this deserves 100 WOW's!!!! It looks like a water butterfly, coming out of the water and ready to fly away! I think I can do some resin things, but this one, is so far from what I think I could ever do!
