    New subscriber here. Been binge watching your content for the last week or so, I recently just started offering professional window cleaning as an add on for my pressure wash business. I never thought about it until one day one of my regular customers asked if I knew anyone who cleans windows, without hesitation i offered to take care of it only after gathering some information and proper tools. I booked my first residential cleaning over 100 panes and it payed off all of my equipment plus some profit! Thank you for sharing!!!

    Just did my first residential yesterday. Took me 3.5hrs since I'm still learning a good squeegee technique and was being super careful. 39 window panes, 2 story house, inside & out. Did the inside first and it started to rain as I started the outside. Ran around the outside very quickly with a WFP which didn't matter too much since it was raining. I only did the interior because it really needed it and the lady really wanted them done....but in future until COVID is in the clear, I'm only doing exteriors. So much easier than stepping around ornaments and moving furniture inside

      Just a little tip, idk where you live, but the world isn't gonna just let covid dissappear. So you might be able to do that forever lol. We do in and out still since it's more money. But we are Texan. See but I guess it would be more money if you have a minimum, bc if we did outs only then it would be 160 min still. Even if you have 3 windows, it creates the luxury side. Might raise my price to go out but I'd rather still be able to get those people that don't really have many windows

    Awesome trick you just taught me with the steel wool inside the white scrub pad. Never crossed my mind. I always used white scrub pads cause they last a long time and easier to use, feels better in the hand. Though I do break out the steel wool on certain jobs since it seems to do a better job. Next time, I’ll do it how you done it in this video. Appreciate it

    Hey StevO. I know you may have answered this in another video but why don't you use the Moerman liquidator channel with the Moerman excelerator handle? I use the moerman channel with the handle and love it. Is it because of the plastic clips? They can be a pain to get on and off.

    • @SteveOthewindowcleaner
      @SteveOthewindowcleaner  Před 2 lety

      Not a fan of it at all, the ends skip way to easy and sucks on a lot of commercial frames. Used it for many years off and on and found it personally to be the worst channel on the market. Great idea overall but just doesn't work smoothly on all glass like ettore brass. And you can tell Moerman knows its an issue by the different versions of the channel that have been released. My favorite edition was the 2.0 actually but the new 3.0 I think was 2 steps back. I am very particular of the middle of the glass, where the customer looks out. Detailing edges takes no time at all. But if it works for you that's all that matters!

    Steve!! Love your videos. Been hooked for awhile now.
    Since this is exterior only, is it possible to only offer exterior cleans on residential?
    Also, how important or necessary is general liability for this business?
    I’m looking to start this business and would likely feel more comfortable doing residential exteriors only at least until I’m at a point to get general liability going. I can’t imagine dragging ladders around someone’s home and having to be so cautious of their things without any coverage to cover myself.
    Also - what are some good “budget” friendly start up tools? I noticed your video on the Home Depot stuff and seems that’s a fail. I like your kit on the window cleaning site but not sure if I can hit up $469 at the moment. I don’t want cheap stuff though. I’d like affordable quality until I can really upgrade and get things going.

    Love your videos mate I’m 42 and just starting out. Nervous and all, but I’m practicing my technique as much as I can. Just after some advice if anyone can shed some light on it. I use an Unger Ninja and when I squeegee I’ve noticed as I’m doing it, it leaves a trail of what appears to be very fine clear water lines behind and when I watch your videos I never see this with your technique. Am I doing something wrong is the rubber no good please?

    • @MichaelBrianInc
      @MichaelBrianInc Před rokem +1

      I’ve been watching a few vids and although not a cleaner just yet, I’m always looking to help.
      When you cut the window with your squeegee and begin the “s” motion you want the squeegee to overlap and keep the angle. There’s also another method called making “7s” which is a really nice style.
      Also try out different soap ratios. Maybe it’s a bit too watery and that’s why you have small water streaks?
      Don’t take my word for it, I just like to offer other perceptions or food for thought if I can.
      Good luck on your journey! I’m looking to get in to mine soon also!
