  • This tourniquet has came a good bit of attention in its short time in service. Are either of these offerings up to the task? If so, do either offer an improvement on any proven tourniquets on the market? Does it truly offer an EDC advantage to proven tourniquets? And what talking points are making people put these in their pockets?

    Thank you for sharing your knowledge. This reminds me of the 380 or micro 9mm argument. It's always a compromise to carry a smaller or less capable firearm than a full double stack 9mm, but most times people will leave the house without their gun because it's too cumbersome or it's printing too much with their current outfit. That's where the small guns come into play. It's never supposed to replace your more capable firearms, but instead create a scenario where you carry everyday. Because although it is quite a compromise, and I wouldn't want to bet my life on a 380, the alternative would be my fists since in that scenario I'm not carrying at all. With this tourniquet the train of thought is similar. I have a bunch of CAT tourniquets and never carry them on my person because I am quite small and thin, so while I wouldn't pick the ETQ as my main choice, most of the time it would 100% beat my current choice of not having a tourniquet on me at all. What are your thoughts on this? I still haven't decided on buying this tourniquet yet.

    I have gone back and forth on wanting to purchase this but after seeing so many medical professionals mention what you have demonstrated has kept me with carrying my SOF-T wide. Appreciate the video.

      I am glad you are carrying a proven tool. If I had any small part in that choice, I am honored and humbled. Thank you.

    I edc the CAT, it has been proven down to age groups as young as two years old on limbs as little as 5 inches in diameter. I would expect similar performance out of other proven offerings like SOF T. Although at those small sizes it takes significantly less pressure to stop a bleed.

    Thing is I'm not going to EDC a CAT on my person. Not everyone wears cargo pants and a shirt with 16 chest pockets.
    "the only thing good about it is the form factor" - yeah and the same could be said about a j-frame, a clinch pick, and other staples of EDC.

      Carry a CAT every day in totally normal clothes.

      @@TrainWithWillis I’m sure you do, but most people don’t and won’t and your “normal clothes” might not be other peoples’.

      Also, let’s not insult proven reliable tools like clinch picks or J-frames by mentioning them in the same conversation as this silly thing. 👍

      @@TacticalStrudelfair, but as a professional instructor, there A LOT of options to share with REAL tools before I could responsibly encourage someone to put this in a pocket.

      @@TrainWithWillisHere's the thing people in the know about EDC know what having a TQ means, especially a CAT7 cause it's easy to spot. This is so small I just tuck in in my Sidecar magpouch, plus independent testing has shown it passes TCCC standards

    In your opinion, do to the ETQ’s form factor, would it have any advantages when applied to juveniles? I seem to remember being told in a first aid class that the CAT struggles in this area. Thanks for the great video!

    • @TrainWithWillis
      @TrainWithWillis  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Other tourniquets perform well on surprisingly small limbs. The ETQ does not present a specific advantage in this realm.

    While far from optimal, it seems the WTQ wide is at least better than nothing.
    Can you do a vid on how you're folding/packing your CAT?

    There are no actual studies on this tourniquet. So far CAT 7 blows everything else out of the water. Now, if it was between this and a RAT? I would pick this however CAT 7's are the way to go. Hard no for met and do not waist your money.

    One thing I’ve learned (about my self at-least) if something isn’t convenient I’m less likely to carry it. and noticed most ppl that carry don’t carry medical…. Back to the etq will it work …sure ? Does it work as good as a cat no but same reason I don’t carry ar pistol in a pack would it work better then a concealed pistol sure but just not super fees-able practical imo

      I see what you’re saying but since there are several comfortable ways to carry a CAT IWB (or elsewhere) the analogy doesn’t hold.

    I had no idea there was such a thing as "Tourniquet Debate". Just carry a tourniquet, know how to use it, and pray you never have to.

    • @TrainWithWillis
      @TrainWithWillis  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Like any category of product, there are higher and lower quality designs. It’s not really a “debate” per se. Folks who know what they are talking about can rattle off a list of quality options, and a list of things to avoid.
