Derrick gonna fit in great the Ravens know how to make someone feel at home. Only thing is he is walking into that trauma in the locker room from last year so some players like the defensive players gonna be more serious about getting to the SB so I don’t think it’s gonna be all smiles like last year I think everybody ready to grind and get to it and I think DH is too. I wasn’t a big fan of king Henry previously especially after that game when Tennessee was up 28 to 6 and he stiff armed my guy C. Clark before being stopped by Thomas III.
However, after watching this and a few more interviews, I am starting to change my mind. Derrick is a cool guy and a great athlete too who I think still has a lot of gas in the tank and will be a great, great, great addition to the team.

TE’s are and will always be a part of an offense.
Oh wait the offensive line is a huge investment also, sucks but LT are hella expensive. Terrible that Stanley got injured after a huge investment.
They’ve drafted 3 WR’s. With the 1st round pick on three separate occasions in the last 6 seasons. One other offensive investment with the first pick was a young All-Pro center.
In four of the past five seasons the Ravens have invested a first round pick to the offense.
They’ve signed free agent lineman, every season, they have drafted offensive lineman every season.
A true number 1 WR is a need for nearly every team. It’s not like they fall from the tree like an overripe fruit just waiting to be picked.
Ultimately the teams with the most receiving talent rarely wins anyway.
Obviously there are exceptions, and also other factors that play into a receiver being a number one guy.
The exceptions ~ KC with Tyreek Hill. They also won multiple Super Bowls without him.
LA Rams ~ Cooper Kupp… who knew? He certainly wasn’t drafted to be the prototype number one, the system and the quarterback certainly have a large part of him being successful.
Tampa Bay| before Brady and after Brady, having a pro type player like Mike Evans yielded net negative results, the Bucs weren’t close to contending ~ until Brady. But have had great receivers for years.
The other Elite WR’s have played on teams that have made a run or two, or have yet to make a deep playoff run…
You could run down the list of Super Bowl champions since 2000 and you will find that it was never an elite WR that put those teams over the top.
Some like NE never had a true number 1, WR nor RB and won all those trophies…. The one season they did. We all know the end result.
Pittsburgh when they had the Killer B’s and Antonio Brown had one of the greatest 5 season stretches in the history of the NFL, never won a damn thing.
This myth that a team had to have a true number 1, that a team needs to invest 20-30 million to one receiver and it will make the team better?

It has been historically proven to be untrue over and over and over again.
Yeah, pre Free agency you had the dynasty teams with great Elite WR, but you could lock up your guys back then.
Again,
having a true number is a narrative without merit.
Having a solid, balanced receiving core has proven to be the most effective offense’s. Both recently and historically.
Solid running game, wire TE’s (which the Ravens have traditionally been great at) solid WR core, running game, but you do need a game changer type player on the offense, speed guy to stretch the defenses.
Anyway.
The biggest need this season is to improve the offensive line, they will add another receiver I’m sure, a guy that can contribute right away.
May not be the big body true Number 1 but a good player.
Also,
it’s tough to get those types via draft, drafting later in the 1st round, and beyond… it is hit or miss~ The Ravens haven’t fared well at all with drafting WR in any round.
Probably the only blemish I can openly criticize them for with justification.
But as far as investing, they do, and they do it wisely. Can’t blame them 100% for all the receiver picks that didn’t pan out. It happens with every team.

@@mobrown1198 great response and points. I believe the comments about the number 1 reciever are more about the awful drafting of the position by the Org. Mostly bad luck, but its atill tough to not hit on a top 10 player at that spot despite hitting at just about every position at a high level
