The road was impassable by car so we parked close to the village of Athani and ventured down the ravaged road by foot. It took close to an hour to reach the beach, as we traversed fallen boulders and and mounds of earth which had been displaced by the quake.
The entire area, which seems to have had no human contact since the time of the earthquake feels as if it has been restored to its natural beauty and serenity and indeed, better than ever before.
