    I just watched your last two vlog updates (9 and 10) and you mentioned the bike setup in Part 1 so I decided to come check it out. I was suprised to see that you didn't go tubeless for your trip with some tube backups. I guess that's one of those polarizing subjects. I'm hoping to section ride from Tempe to El Paso later this year so your setup was very informative. I have a new Canyon Grizl that I'll be outfitting for my ride and I am now really going to look into front-loading the weight now that I have seen your setup. Stay safe out there. I'll be following along for the rest of your journey. Cheers.

      Sorry I missed your message. My rims are not set up for tubeless. Remarkably I only had two flats in 3000 miles so I was lucky. With most of the weight (our bodies) on the rear wheel, i believe front loaded gear is superior. I could stand and pedal out of the saddle at high speeds. When I had 4 panniers the tail wag was really noticeable. How was your trip? Did you front load?

    I'm surprised you went with the seat post bag, after you said you like the low center of gravity on the yellow from bags. I too do not like a handle bare bag attached to the bars . I lowered my bar bag and set it on top of the front rack. I designed a quick release for the bag and designed it to face either forward or towards the cock pit.

      Good point. I had light weight items in the seat post bag and it was centered compared to rear panniers which is a big difference.

    Nice setup. I currently ride a recumbent trike and now looking at getting a surly bridge club for my touring bike. Trying to travel by air or train with my trike is very problematic so going back to 2 wheel travel. Would like more info on your front rack system as I'm looking for racks and bags for my BC when I finally order it from Topanga creek outpost. I will need the rear rack and at least a rack pack as I use a CPAP and battery power at night when I'm camping.

      Best of luck Steve. I actually installed two separate racks on my front end. I think you can get a clear understanding in my this video, but let me know if you have any more questions. czcams.com/video/zWpglmBynck/video.html

    Looks like a cool setup. How much does the whole rig weigh? Have fun buddy. I’ll be with you every step of the way as long as I don’t have to leave my couch!!

    I'm a long range biker usually around 40 to 60 miles, criss country tour is something I'm fascinated by and want to do it I just have some serious concerns that keeps me from doing it. Such as losing my wallet or getting robbed and getting strainded with no money

    • @parrsplace
      @parrsplace  Před rokem

      Hi Chris, I had similar concerns and have multiple options that I brought along. If you were to lose a card you could also get another from a bank or have it overnighted

    Also curious on total bike weight and how many miles per day?
