Little off subject, I remember, in the late seventies, when I was a little boy, eight or nine, with a note from my mom, I could walk to the drugstore and buy her cigarettes- she smoked Kent 100’s - and wine. Nobody thought anything of it.
Those were the days, my friend... sadly, I was born too late. I remember when people smoked on busses, though. I do, however, remember buying beer and cigarettes when I was 15 at some convenience store in some small remote town. The woman behind the counter definitely knew I was underage, but she couldn't be bothered to ask for id.
Kool commercials of this time period always ended with a shot of water in some form - pond, swimming pool, fountain, etc.
She was on Andy Griffith episode
They used to teach actors how to look cool when smoking.

I can attest to what this man is saying. It was when I switched from my regular brand of bland tobacco to Kools, that I discovered the reinvigorating pleasures of smoking Kool and now, you see, my career and health are greatly improved. And let me tell you, the ladies appreciates a man who only smokes his favorite brand: Kool.

What were we thinking!! I grew up in a four room house with six other people....all smoked but me. I use to call it aversion therapy. Later in high school I got offered so many times to smoke. Lucky Strike for me, I never smoked.

It's pretty ridiculous how old cigarette ads used to make out people smoked for the taste. Or a smoker might decline a cigarette on a night out because they were sick of the taste.
It is very addictive, but People really do smoke for the taste. That’s why so many of us smokers have our own favorite brand. I’m a smoker, and I would say kools have a great taste for a menthol cigarette.
@@coltonnewton9559 I think that possibly you associate the taste with the addiction. I love the taste of coffee, but I seriously doubt my brain would prefer this over chai, herbal tea or hot chocolate if it weren't for the copious amounts of caffeine. Now my brain knows that taste = reward.
Theres is definately difference in taste with different cigarette brands, i smoke camels purely based on taste , not strength of the cigarette.
@@OldAussieAdsnail on the head I think. I used to smoke, taste seemed “good” but like as u said the addiction. I love coffee too. I also love caffeine hahah. But yes it’s hard to say wether u are actually there for the taste. Once I quit, I smoked a few here and there and the main thing to note about those smokes is how bad they tasted

Wow, show you how much the media has changed, although cigarettes commercial are banned but still there are more cigarettes smokers than ever before, so sad, I know there are a lot of people that has been smoking for decades and has tried to quit with no success, but there is an answer/ Turn to God and ask Him to deliver you from this addiction or any other addiction you may be dealing with, have Faith and God will answer, 100%. Smoking cigarettes killed my best friend's mother due to cancer in the 90's when he was a teenager. I'm wondering how he and people like him must feel watching these commercials today.

Kools were one of the most incredibly harsh and overly strong menthol cigarettes made. They made it look like they were cooling and tasty. Like all cigarettes they were just dressed up poison.

@@JxT1957 I remember those!! They were available through the late 80's, at least. I smoked Kool filter kings for 20, but also smoked a few cartons of non filters. They were strong!! Thank God I quit 20 years ago...so far, so good.
