- This video is definitely one of my favourites now, its a PB landing a kingfish on a lure landbased.. so ive ticked a few targets and im stoked!
Gear used:
Reel: Shimano Stradic FL 5000
Rod: Shimano Maikuro 4-8kg
Braid: Berkely x9 20lb
Leader: 14lb FC Rock
Lure: @daiwaaustralia baitjunkie 5” jerkshad white
Jighead 3/8 size 3

Try 1/4 size4 or 1/6 size 3 or 4 hook on 6 inch jerkshad zman white i seem to get kingies all the time with these setups were as jewies seem to like 3/8 or 1/2 kingies love the lighter jigheads fast action but give it a try dude it works for me hopefully it fors for u

Nice catch Mick, planning to do the same around the CBD wharves, is 3/8 oz enough to cast the jerkshad or should we go 1/2 oz jig?
1/2 should be good for sure, work your lure quicker in the deep 👌🏼

What rod are you using and what’s the specifications on it
will never understand why people cast with right and switch hands, just put the handle on left side
Haha i have a unorthodox cast i know, but the reason is im a left handed and a right handsr its hard to explain

What rod length would you suggest for landbased King's around Sydney?
For lures? I use a 7” foot rod myself 4-8kg, but you can go longer and heavier at your preference

Should be ok i guess, personally i use around 7” foot never used a 9 foot before

Always used daiwa for a while now, but the maikuro teed up with the stradic done well on the rat king for sure, nothing wrong with it... also nice and light with the reel nothing to heavy in the hands
Cant complain $100 for a rod is value for money
@@flickwithmick I'd say its good for its price, i had the older model 4-8kg aswell and they were great for their price. Im the opposite was always a shimano guy now getting into daiwa gear

Mick just a question on the line you use for the plastics do you use braid line or Flurocarbon? or is the leader braid and main line fluro. Never fished with braid before only mono so seeking some advice cheers bro

I use braid for main line and tie flurocarbon leader to the braid usually a rod length, and from leader i tie the jighead or any lure on 👌🏼

Hey moe, definitely can mate, might need to increase the weight on the jighead though , probs a 1/4 ounce

Tried a few techniques, but the twitch twitch pause got the bite, i would say it was mid water before i started retrieving
