just a quick note that consumables are disabled in HC, i got confused since they still had cooldowns when i joined. You CAN'T use consuambles in hardcore which at first I thought you could.

Yeah, could have done like btd6. You get them by playing normally without any rng, and you can buy the one you want. Also available thru daily rewards. Tower Pets in VIP+ and VIP+ as a whole was just unnecessary, but i kinda expected that ngl

This update mostly feels like a nothing burger when experienced players and strat users are not using consumables most of the time.
And the paywalled features are purely for cosmetic lol.
So It's just a quick buck and I don't mind considering how quite big the updates they released during the past few weeks.
This is just speculation on my part, but regarding the addition of consumables, it might be hinting at a potential rework with one or all of the normal modes (Fallen mode seems to be a reasonable contender as it is pretty much turned into a joke of a mode with the frequency of players with golden skins and special towers)
For strat, only useful thing is the supply crate for early wave to farm faster and the dmg boost flag, range and firerate flag on last wave
Tho only useful for event, no use for regular grind, just loss even more coin
It's not only cosmetic paid stuff which is fine.
Is comestic MONTHLY paid stuff, you have to pay every month just to keep it and that just sucks. It's a horrible practice

Personally I hate both games.
TDX - Not my style, and the game is clearly made for more experienced players.
TDS - A company more focused on Nickle and diming there players for everything they are worth.

Tdx has their power abilities, purhchasable with in-game cash and robux, and earned them after beating a game.
After tdx has teased their *HUGE* TB gamemode collab teaser-trailer/update coming soon, TDS devs decided to leak a lot of upcoming things coming next week. Something they don't usually do.
At this point they're desperate to get some hype back.

It also says ALL tiers of crates, so I think that if you play harder modes like HC and PL2, you can possibly earn high grade crates

Pets for vip+ is crazy, at least make it vip or just free, replace it for like exclusive skins instead. For example: dimond skins for all towers possibly.
IKR, a pet tower feature being available behind a paywall is just not it like you could literally come up with ANY other cosmetic benefits but they chose to come up with that and didn't even think of making it a gamepass instead of buying it with real life money

i feel like if they made a one time gamepass for tower pets, they would have gained more profit. even with the 70% tax on roblox's part (and the "0% tax for subscriptions"), if they made a gamepass then more people would have been drawn to it, driving in more sales for more gains. i feel like not much people would buy the subscription, so "supporting future development" is null.
true, but robux to cash is horrible conversion. 100k robux to 350 dollars is really bad, and when you buy a subscription to tds, they get the full 7 dollars where if it was robux they’d probably get less than a dollar. it sucks, but i can see why they did it. it shouldn’t be a subscription though.

In the discord they had a poll on how players suggest to improve VIP+ and the most voted thing is moving tower pets to VIP or as a one time gamepass, so there is a likely chance that it will open up

I think a better idea would be what they did with TDS merch (Buying a plush and then getting an exclusive skin/nametag), though I don't have any idea if that kind of practice is allowed on roblox
This update kinda gives me so much excitement while at the same time, disappointed me.
I mean... you need to get Tower Pets from VIP+ that should be required to pay every month.
... As if we're all waiting for this update, our entire lives, why Tower Pets in VIP+, why not just replace it with 1 Deluxe Crate and Premium Crate each month and bunch of others while Tower Pets are there for free or atleast to purchase with coins.
The consumables definitely has me hyped though because they seem to have such cool power ups.
Overall, not the worst update in TDS but Tower Pets being apart of VIP+ disappointed me.
This is why I started to play more tdx than tds. You can just straight up buy the power ups and they are actually useful in game
It feels like every update they just try to obscure and use fancy words when they discuss certain pieces of updates. Then the update releases and everyone's because they were mislead. and oh the 6 hour cooldown is back in general
Barricade should probably be used at the end when an enemy leaks, to either save that lost hp or to survive an enemy that would kill you, Grenade is just mid since there's not much scenarios where it would save you, and Flashbang just feels awful to me since it would take up space for a better power up, though it definitely can help. Better way to use supply drop is for your ec towers, like farm or cowboy, since that will lead to more than just 1,200 cash that you would get from the crate. Airstrike or Napalm Strike is actually pretty good imo, just that they really only help in mid-late game. UAV is kind of bad since you can already get hidden detection very easily and you can get dj for range, but it is a substitute. I've never even seen Molotov used so I have no opinion. Range and Cooldown flag don't do much, their buffs are very slight. However the damage flag is actually noticeable by a good amount, and because of the range, you can get most or all of your towers in range. For some reason I've never seen the Blizzard Bomb, but I have seen the nuke 5 times (one of those times was on wave 1, very overkill) and it's pretty good.
This is why I left tds last week because of all these recent controversial stuff and how gambling now has became a bigger problem in this game even if gambling technically already existed with the gold crates, not to mention there is already some controversial stuff with tds copying tdx like the power ups or some of the more recent towers
I saw something about Slap Battles, and the paid subscriptions help the game a lot as there is a new “subscription” category… which if your game is in that, you will probably get a lot more popularity in this “new generation” of Roblox
the only thing I do hate is that they didn’t add is an open all option, other than that everything else is fine.
The UAV is pretty good too! i wonder if it would give melee tower an ability to hit fly
the abilitties in tds are pretty much the same as the ones in tdx like:
-recon drone / uav
-nuke / nuke
-airstrike / airstrike
-raptor storm / napalm strike
-money crate/health crate / airdrop
and you know they didint added a health regen beacuse towers cant die
and tbh some of those "powerups" are original and something cool to use
its hard to say its original, the barricades is easily a bt6 road spikes, grenades.... grenades, and the flags are only boosters.

The update was good, but the vip+ is kinda useless just like that tower pet thing. Like whats the points on seeing it for 15 second, and after that being in an 15+ Minute game.

I played pw2 and not only can we not kill amalgimation like the towers dont shoot but we dont die from them either but worst of all the boss doesnt even spawn

Honestly why would they make vip+ monthly? They could have done it with a fix price higher than your normal vip instead. They cooked the with consumables, but the heat(vip+ and the pet thing) was too strong it burnt down the kitchen.

Some how they made the Hardcore/Overhaul update and Lunar Overture look like it wasn’t a bad update (Even tho they’re still are). What pissed me off the most and probably most people would agree on is that the awaited tower pets. It just puts an insult to not only to people who value the game but fp2 and players who gotten the vip gamepass. Why even lock a feature that’s been hyped or teased for a while just to become something that is just locked behind a monthly paywall. The consumable I could careless bc I really don’t see myself using them but just for “flexing” purposes. Overall this update ruined everyone’s day and time to the point where TDX is literally clowning on them for it 💀.

this update just breaks all balance with the flags and nukes and makes the game get more and more like a simulator, forcing you to gamble for the ability to break the game and adding scummy subscriptions, no positives

Let me get this thing clear, the update was meant to be focused on the CONSUMABLES. Not the subscription and stuff, the subscription is supposed to support the developers for future development of the game. And Belownatural itself did not mean to steal more money from its fans, since he said: "Only buy this if you plan on supporting the future development of this game!". So don't say this update is trash just because you won't have towers walking beside you, cause you don't have subscription.

Hardcore is broken, frostblaster can't damage lead.
While the update itself was mid the one thing i hate is the time acale tickets being behind an consumable paywall when in tdx you had an 1 time purchase of it. I mean its stupid that an feature made for ease of use is behind an paywall imo.
For clarification I don't enjoy it being paid in tdx either but there it's simply an 1 time thing that you can use in every game. If you lose alot in example challenges it will be an costly expense...

Consumables are cool but the game has gotten so easy for many players so I don’t see any reason to use them
I don’t get the haters the devs made the game easier for both f2p and p2w you can get all the consumables easily even in a free account(besides nuke but that’s only 1 of them) which is something the game really needs considering how much harder getting golden skins or gem towers would be for f2p players otherwise

just the fact that they exist screws up the game. consumables in tower defense games (and in games in general) were always a bad thing - they either screw up the balance, make the players rage, make the game p2w (EVENTUALLY), or just everything at once.
The normal modes are easy anyways, why use consumables?
Sure, beginners might get a use out of it to help out in harder modes but why spend 300 coins to gamble for either a useless / useful powerup when you can just get paired with other players with better towers?

Back when TDS changed HC maps, added PW2, Badlands 2,... I was actually interested, but this update is kinda overwhelming for me tbh. Yes it could be improved but I think they're going the wrong way.

Something that is pretty L is you cant even use power ups on hardcore So Using An Nuke on Fallen is almost no worth it if you have atleast accel ranger or minigunner
And VIP+ you cant even get it permanent you need to pay 7 dollars per month only to get 25% more exp that is useless if you are an +150 level player tower pets that you can get 3 only and 100% luck on power ups crates that is not worth it because power ups cannot be used on hard gamemodes like hardcore so well thid updatr was an L
