You're RIGHT about Casio making it SOLAR power, or at least solar power assist, and it's the LAST watch I get that the hands can NOT be set by a stem! Syncing the analog hands to the digital display is a pain in the ass!
If this or the GGB-100 was solar powered there’d be no reason for people to look at the still popular GWG-1000 or GW 9400 models. This and the GGB-100 have more functions and are cheaper (than the GWG-1000 at least). MB6 is great, but Bluetooth works just fine along with the ease of using the app for all the setup and configuration. It’s just business; they don’t want to kill off two older but wildly popular models
As a first time G-shock buyer, I'm absolutely torn between this piece and the Burton collab Mudmaster. This one looks like a stealth fighter while the Burton collab Mudmaster looks like it's ready to go on some kind of an epic adventure.
Just ordered the blackout version, i think it is a fantastic watch to replace my S6 apple watch..getting sick of charging it every night..Cool review though Seth Rogan
Looks georgeous! But I don't understand why Casio didn't make the dial full digital. This Ana-Digi dial is confusing to me. The digital screen is too small imho.
Great looking watch! But Im not sold on that carbon fiber bezel. If that gets a deep scratch the whole bezel can be compromised. IMO I wouldn’t use carbon fiber. Great review

I really don't know, mightbe it's a cost saving thing, because a non-rechargable battery is a lot cheaper and they have more options with the dial, they did the same on the lower tier mudmasters. On the other hand, the GWG-1000 mudmaster and the GPW-2000 gravitymaster are more expensive and have quite an array of power hungry functions (MB6, barometer (with optional continuous measurement), altimeter, compass, thermometer or MB6, bluetooth, gps receiver) and those work perfectly fine solar powered. Probably the 2 piece dial structure with a semi-transparant top and a PV cell under it might add to much height and will add some restrictions in the design of the movement.
Too bad my new Casio GRB200-1A "Gravity Master" has a "MAJOR" fault, in that the HANDS (Analog) time does NOT match the DIGITAL time. It's EXACTLY FIVE MINUTES OFF! That makes the strap and buckle issues pale by comparison! It's NOT a good thing to have a watch that doesn't keep good time! Maybe a jeweler who knows how to advance the minutes hand by FIVE MINUTES can help. Either that or Casio. I was impressed with the watch until I ran into this issue. And YES, I have set the time manually AND with the app with the same results. Looks good, but I sure wouldn't recommend!
You really think Casio would be selling so many of these watches if there wasn't a way to make the hands on the dial and the digital time align? Your complaint falls into the total dumb category.
Pilots are about status. They wear simple but high end pieces. Rolex, Breitling etc. Pretty sure they can get Altimeter on their instrument cluster. This is a gimmick piece.
I don't like this Watch for the following reasons (sorry for my bad English): 1) It's not solar, and It has too many features for only a 2 years battery Life. 2) This Watch is supposed to be a real tool, with which you can see all the data at first glance... Why is It an ana-digi whatch, where the analogic parte is so Big (and does not add anything extra to the watch, apart from the simple time), and the digital display, where you have to read all the important info (alti, Baró, thermo, stopwatch, timer, alarms... or whatever) is sooo small...?

All those sensors and NO solar? That's a deal breaker for me. I'd be afraid to use the sensors knowing it's killing the battery.
And it would only last two years...

This is a hiking watch. It has the exactly same function and movement as mudmaster. I don’t understand why casio market it as a pilot watch.

The Range Man is fully loaded with sensors and it's tough solar powered.

The plastic buckle is a design of the aviation cockpit dashboard. Example: Sikorsky H-60 helicopter cockpit 🚁
The compass button is plastic as to avoid magnetizing the compass?
