I'm glad to got to see the film. It was emotionally heavy but very beautiful. I hope many people see it, and I hope our society can reflect on the themes it explores.
You're so lucky you've been able to see it...where I live in the world it doesn't even show up in the theater until May of this year....
@@alexeios not in New Zealand.....it's not available on YT
02:13 Gustav's reaction when Lukas called Eden an angel 😅
i was about to comment that xD, they r just so cute
“He sure is”😂
I don't think Dustav DeWaele (Remi) gets the credit he deserves. He was only in the film for about half and hour. Don't want to give the film away but he had a scene that I'll never forget, I don't know what he was drawing on to do the scene but he's an amazing actor!
i agree with you! everything i read about the film people mostly (or even only) talk about eden dambrine, which of course he deserves, but gustav did a perfect job himself.
I totally agree. I know what scene you are talking about at the school grounds. But I also particularly love one other scene of his, at the breakfast table.
This movie was beautifully written and shot!
The parents of Remi deserves recognition as well
Yes, it all starts at home.
Those young actors were so good. An excellent film.
Should have they been Oscar nominated?
“Close” was neck and neck to “Tar” for me simply for best films of the year. Both profound in their own ways brimming with emotion. I hope “Close” gets the recognition it deserves. Beautiful and touching film
Gustav is so Remi... nice, sweet, charismatic. But Eden is completely different from Leo, Leo is shy, serious, Eden is outgoing, funny, with a great sense of humor.😂
So true! I see so much Remi in Gustav he’s adorable
It’s the world judgement made them change the perspective of how they see their closeness to each other. I was there when I was 16, my childhood best friend exchange me for his popularity and see me as treat for his growth. Saw myself in those two. The story made me realize how the words from other people can change someone’s perspective.
I was 13 and he was 14 he was my bestfriend since grade 7 but now it all changed because of the pandemic he dropped out of senior high school and now im all alone at school i miss him being there by my side and I wish I could go back in time..
hes 18 now and im 17..
I sobbed for 2 days because the movie was so freaking relatable me and my bestfriend were so close together that people thought we were a couple back then.. were both gay and not knowing we had feelings for each other.
I literally just finished watching it and I wish I hadnt watched it at midnight, because I wont sleep for the rest of the night. It was a beautiful movie in every way but emotionally devastating.
I'm so exited to see these interviews are starting to pop up.There hasn't been too many interviews yet where you get to hear from these two young actors :)
What an amazing movie. So sad but beautiful. These 2 young actors are amazing and they speak 4 languages fluently. Awesome.
4?
Just three. Their native French and Flemish (Dutch), and of course English.
If the Dutch speaking is called Flemish, than French speaking should be called Walloon. 😊
Could also be fluent in German. The film was difficult to watch. It uses the beautiful Belgian countryside, in all four seasons.
BRING REMI BACK I CAN'T LIVE KNOWING WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM I SWEAR IM SUFFERING AS IF IT WAS MY FRIEND
FRRR😭😭😭
ikrrr. just watched the film yesterday i cannot get over remi's death 💔
the actors are so well spoken for their age wow 👏 👏
Nice to see these kids having a good time. I’m looking forward to seeing it
I knew All Quiet was going to win the oscar, but I wish this would've!! An amazing movie and an important story to tell. Thank you to everyone involved :)
both were great!
Great, heartbreaking, beautiful film and much needed in conversations around male loneliness in the US and elsewhere
Movie was very good the message was very clear well done to both actors I almost shed a tear I had catch myself
Eden Dambrine should have been Oscar nominated for Close and won
Best cast for actor selection...love this beautiful movie
The best film of 2022 for me! 🥰
Es una película tan cruda y Real con unas actuaciones magistrales.
A totally remarkable film. Devastatingly upsetting . . .
To anyone who has not watched this film yet, what are you waiting for? You won't be disappointed
Amazing
Beautiful film
I saw this film and highly recommend you see it. ❤
Gustav is so handsome
AMAZING FILM.......IT SHOULD HAVE WON!!!!!
Wish it won Oscar, but all quiet on western front is guaranteed win since it’s nominated in best picture too. Tho all quiet is also on my top 3 movies 2022.
This film moves me to tears many times. I had a relationship like that at the same age. Just that same powerful, innocent and beautiful closeness, that made people wonder about the nature of it, during the onset of adolescence. I yearn for those days when you weren't afraid to show your platonic mate affection without the scorn of judgement of others.
The end of innocent childhood and the beginning of having to deal with things like toxic masculinity and homophobia.
THE NEW ERA😘😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍LOVE GUYS😘😘😘😘
I just saw this film a few days ago. Was NOT what I thought it was going to be as I knew nothing about it's background. Beautifully written, acted by newcomers with virtually no rehearsal which brought out the natural personality of the boys. And so, so heartbreaking. Stunning portrayal of an intensely intimate friendship that most young men can relate to as teens, destroyed by labels that society never fails to inflict on innocence and purity that is so frustrating. I'm not prone to watching films that touch on the subject matter that this film implies. But after watching how the excruciating sadness unfolds in this film has changed my views regarding toxic masculinity, which I really didn't understand until now and softened my somewhat lifelong stance on what some would consider negative thoughts regarding male bonding and true friendship that I now know is real and can be just as devastating for anyone when that relationship falls apart, regardless of who they are. It was unbearable to watch the building grief and guilt young Leo endured throughout the last third of the film. Eden Dambrinne carried the weight of this entire film and deserves every accolade he can acquire. Both boys conveyed a very rare and unique ability to show genuine affection and devotion that I wished now that I could've experienced as a child. I had good friendships as a child but never anything like this, so pure and unburdened by how society thinks it should be. I'm convinced now, after never really caring that we place way too much criticism on male friendships that are obviously solid and carefree. So unnecessary when most relationships these days are so negative and dysfunctional. Doesn't matter if you're straight or gay (I'm straight) or anywhere in between. This is a must watch film that will change your attitude for the better. It changed me. The fact that absolutely no political or ideological agenda was shoved down the throats of the viewer, that the director stuck to simply telling the story of love and innocence and ultimate tragedy between two young friends was extremely refreshing. Every scene was tightly controlled with no unnecessary dialog or explanation whatsoever which did help you connect with the theme of the film and the characters. It did leave some unanswered questions. But maybe that was deliberate in the sense that it was left to the viewer to interpret what they were seeing. But regardless, anyone finding any fault with this wonderful depiction of childhood loss and grief just has no clue of how life works. Kudos to Lukas Dhont for a rare film that I'm sure alot of people can relate to.
Close is THE BEST
I have yet to see this film, but I really like to see it. I think my own adolescence has similar ties to this film. I may have to watch the Oscar's to see the cast, and what happens with the nomination 🤔
Best film !!!!
BEST ACTORS - GUSTAV- AND EDEN ...🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
It's too bad they *obviously cut that [outside] interview short* just for a *corporate purpose.* _Corporate commercial time is more important to them than actually teaching [and representing?] a society._
Z😍😍😍😍😍😍YESSSSS
If the casting of Eden Dambrine had happened in England the press would have roasted Dhont as a creepy predator. Things are still more innocent in Europe for now. This is a great film.
I want the happy ending where remi and leo grow up and stay together 😖😖😖😖
BEST MOVIE - CLOSE
What an important poignant message

I'll probably never get to see this in the United States just like I never got to see the documentary Danseur. Prove me wrong. 😕
I live in California and I saw it in theaters. Plus you can stream it.
Good work Belgium 😕👍
i want to Fix It today Don't want to me out in Double Trouble again.
The fact that homophobes are blaming acceptance of homosexuality on the tragedy is so irritating.
The movie was literally co-written and directed by a homosexual person.
😒 tumhe pta b h y movie dekhne k bd muje kitna dukh hua asa dukh mt dia kro
Bandeau gênant.
Gwynet Paltrow is somewhere kicking herself for not having called her kid Eden. As ridiculous pretentious names go, it's much better than apple.
Sorry but the movie was very boring
Oscars is a falling apart & woke 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥⚡
You're just upset that you needed subtitles.
If by “woke” you mean that some of us have evolved to become accepting and empathetic of others then I thank you for the compliment. Being hateful and fearful is a sad way to live one’s life.
